Alright guys, I've searched and searched and only found numerous numerous threads that go - in depth - on carb tuning for specific applications, but haven't found what I am looking for.
I am currently having the engine on my '75 cb550 completely rebuilt by a professional shop (this bike was in pretty bad shape when I got it and nowhere near running condition, so I'm wanting someone who knows what they're doing go through it completely). So my question is this: should I also have the shop rebuild the stock carbs that originally came with the bike or should I replace them with "better"/more modern carbs by Mikuni, Keihin (CR26, not CR29), or perhaps other carbs from newer Honda models? I am considering installing a high performance Web Cam and running Dyna coils.
My goal is to increase performance of the engine for spirited fun (no track time here), but not at the sacrifice of reliability. I also don't want to have to constantly re-tune carbs once they get dialed in.
Thoughts?
