New member, old rider
« on: July 19, 2017, 05:56:23 PM »
Greetings.  I've been riding since I was 16, which is more than a few years ago.  Only on my third bike now.  First was a year old just 68' Kawasaki A1, sold it in 1990, next along in 82' is the 1977 CB750K that is currently down with carburetor issues, and a few weeks ago I added a bike built in Milwaukee.  I'll admit it's much newer as a 2006 model, more power, better brakes, and runs fine, but it's just not the same.  I'm missing my fairing, my music, and places to put stuff.
Hopefully with more effort I can get past the carburetor issues.  From reading some of the threads I've already realized I need to pull the carbs off again and be much more detailed in my cleaning efforts.
I bought the Honda initially because all I desired was ride when I wanted, and not be concerned with problems.  Unfortunately the bike had to be parked for the last three years, which was not a good thing.  Now forty years after it was built the bike and I are more mature.
It's great to see pictures of some of the restored bikes, amazing the effort and dedication some put in.  My compliments to those members.

Welcome from MN,

You'll get the bike back in good running condition.

Thursday update on my carb issue:
Pulled them this afternoon and spent hours more carefully checking for plugged areas and looking at the accelerator pump.  IDtenT error, my mistake the spring does not go on the top of the rod, rather underneath the diaphragm.  "On carb number two the low speed idle jet is the culprit.  Trying to soak it overnight to clear it.
Fingers crossed, prayers said.

Good news!
After a three year absence my 77' 750K is back on the road.  Second time cleaned the carbs in greater detail, added gas, pushed the button, and started right up.  Completed a short ride and filled up with gas.
