I'm sure that this particular instance didn't warrant that kind of reaction, but to be fair in the US at least - plenty of people make a fair amount of money tax free selling stuff at garage sales.  I'm not talking stuff they don't need anymore - but things they specifically make for the purpose of selling it at garage sales.

Long winded - but states started cracking down on this because of tax dodging.

I'm not defending what they did though.

Yes, there's many that are too keen to prove themselves- like this cop from Baltimore
(wow. just tried to find a good link to this & amazed how many have been blocked or disabled.. wonder why that should be. Who's taxpayers are paying for all that work?!)
