I made him a stock port K head that ruled. Very, very disappointed that it was never run with a good ignition. Sucks when you pour your mind and heart into things, send them abroad and nothing but several blow ups. The head was repaired nicely but I have no idea what happened to it. Figures. ::) It sucks and has happened to me before with guys at Bonneville (because I can't build the engine and check everything). OK....now I'm just feeling bad for myself...I'll stop.

I remember now after a quick look at what Scottly posted, thanks mate.

Sorry to hear your bad news though Mike, it does suck a little.

I suspect Mark may have had similar feelings after that POS ignition destroyed his motor and dreams of setting a record not once, but twice. :( I hope all is well with him, and he's just moved on other fun projects.

Thanks Dennis, Although it's not a Honda, the original post was intended for you and the few other Land Speed Racers on the forum but I struggle to remember names these days. Since my accident in Virginia, the memory side of my brain is totally messed up and that's why it was just titled, One for the land speed racers.
I hope you are well my friend.

Glad to hear that Johnno is still knocking about 8) .
I know that he had eluded to moving somewhere else and retiring in the near future (something which I've just done also) so maybe like me he is looking for new challenges .
I'm currently looking into building a Nitro  RC Drag Car to keep me from going crazy with boredom  ::)
I've recently had contact from a guy off here who has just bought my project bike off the guy who bought it off me .
He intends building up the motor and putting it on the road
When I think back to all of the work I put into that  Rolling Chassis and all the Hi Po engine stuff I'd acumilated for the motor,it sucks .
I was never going to ride it properly anyway ,so it had to go , as my days of going fast on two wheels are behind me now that I've finally grown up ::) ( I ran at over 200 many times up until my late fifties on my Nitrous Hayabusa  ).
So that at least I can say that I've been there and done it ;D ;D .
Anyways, like I said before, I'm glad to hear that johnno is doing O.K.

Here ya go guys, this from Lee Munro on Facebook 2 hours ago.

Lee Munro added 4 new photos.
2 hrs ยท
Ok...We have been at Bonneville running the #SpiritofMunro Indian Scout.
Things started great!
Saturday we ran a 191.28mph on our first ever run on the salt...short course,5 mile. This run qualified us to run on the long course,8 mile. We chose to run again on the short course to gather data and try a theory on rev range. 2nd run was in bad conditions...very wet salt...bumpy/pot holey. We suffered from rear wheel spin and subsequently could only run up a 185mph lap.
Sunday we decided to run the long course after a rear sprocket change.
The wind was against us...altitude pressure was against us...track was hard which was good but very bumpy! We struggled to get through the wind and pressure changes and only made a pass at 187+mph...I was dissapointed to say the least.
Monday...a new track seeing as a car had a huge rollover chewed out the previous long track. Wind was high and sideways...we waited it out and got away at mid day.
This run was on the new long course and I was hoping to get near the 200mph mark! But...the salt decided to make life interesting.
Over half a dozen cars got into flat spins which means the chances are the salt is not offering much feel.
Mile 2 on my run the rear spun up big time causing the front to load and the rear began to come around on me...I corrected but it started a tank slappy violent weave at 182mph...the salt was soft, very soft. We were flung out of line towards the left into the rough part of the track,I managed to gain control and rolled the throttle back on and got the head down to try for that 192mph+...but nope...second rear wheel spin tank slapper at 180mph,not as bad as the first but enough to let me know that my run was over because by now I was nearing the 3 1/2 mile mark. We were tapped out in fith gear so I rolled her off and brought her into the return road.
I am abit miffed that I didn't better our 191.28mph first run...but the positives are that the bike has huge potential and I have learned so much.
The #IndianScout was strong and has the potential to run over 200mph but weather and salt conditions made it impossible to get us there this time.
I must thank #IndianMotorcycles for all the commitment and support and making this tribute to #BurtMunro happen!!!
I am looking forward to future runs and more success with these great bikes!

Love reading the racing posts, headed to the Bonneville motorcycle speed trials myself, start driving from Texas in hopefully the next hour, arrive Friday night.  Stock 75 CB750 but it is so fun and exciting running down the salt, and the place is beautiful, almost surreal.  Met oldscrambler and Jerry RxMan last year at Bonneville, they were so much help and encouragement.  Bike was jumping out of fourth (I had never revved it that high before) but still set a record.  Had CycleExchange work my trans gears over so I'm headed back.
