Doing carbs for the first time finally cb350f
« on: July 27, 2017, 01:07:52 PM »
Hey everyone,

In a week I am finally going to take my carbs off, clean, check, and repair if need be.

I've been told to get new gaskets of course and to get the shaped ones not the circle ones.

Does anyone know where I can get the right size screws for the bowls ? I was going to use hex screws.

When it comes to needles and jets what is the best product to go with? I've heard some things about incorrect machined needles and jets and such.

I'm guessing if everything "appears" to be okay I should keep all original parts. What would warrant something needing replaced? And most importantly with my floats hopefully they are fine but I suspect damage. What should I be looking for with that? And I've heard new floats are made with different material now? Any recommendations on those?

Thank you!

4into sells some very good kits for like $40/carb and has some for around $12/carb with shaped gaskets.  I've used the cheap one with no issues.  On the screws I think they are 4mm

No need to re-jet/needle unless you made drastic changes to intake and exhaust.
Polish and clean all jets, pull out and clean the emulsion tubes hiding under the main jets....and then put them back in.  No need to replace.
Just get them shiny clean.
Put a new oring on the main jets and in the lip of the bowl.

Take out the float pivot pin.  Clean it up with 000 steel wool

Be sure the float valves go back in the exact carb they came out of.
These are steel tipped and usually have a wear ring on them.
No need to replace unless your carbs leak.
