Hello.. new project 77 cb750f
« on: July 29, 2017, 09:49:41 PM »
Just bought a relatively complete 750f and eager to get working on it. I'm not a skilled mechanic by any means, so this is a learning project too. I've had a friend soak and clean the carbs, changed the oil (cleaned the pan) and changed the plugs. Found the ignition to be missing and get differing opinions on electronic or original ignition. So before going to that step and just getting it running, thought I'd ask.

My preference is electronic. I last set mine in the mid-eighties. Of course folks will say they can go out too but this speaks for that. Hell, anything can break.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I like and have both.  How many miles will you be doing annually?  If a lot, you may want to consider electronic to avoid adjusting/replacing points.

There is a third option - the Hondaman ignition, basically a combo of the two.

Why dont you start a thread in the Project Shop section? You'll get more views/response.
