We finally were able to get our hands on this great looking 1974 CB750 after 10 years of haggling over a price, the original let it go to a new owner. The main issue for me was that the tank was kreem lined years ago. Although it was a great job, the new fuel additives have broken down the liner and it had to be removed. We did our best to try to save the outside paint since it was still in fairly nice shape.
As you can see, it didn't work. The acetone leaked out of the fuel lid when I pressed the rubber plug in just a bit too far, causing the masking tape to lift and allowing just a small amount to get under the protective wrap. The pictures speak for themselves. Now the tank has been completely repainted with VMR Boss Maroon Metallic. I think it looks great! I have always loved the color.
