Cb750f rear caliper rubbing
« on: August 11, 2017, 03:52:21 PM »
I went to adjust my drive chain on cb750f 1976 and now the rear caliper is rubbing or more appropriately grinding on the disc.  It's not the pad, it's the very front edge of the caliper.  It seems like the caliper isn't sitting right possibly. I can with not much effort push against the caliper at the top and it lines up the way it should with out rubbing on the disc.  Is there something I can adjust or shim to get the caliper to sit differently.  It needs to be like 1-2mm in the direction away from the bike.  This might not be very clear so ask any questions to clarify.

Is your whole rear wheel assembly bolted up correctly? Keep in mind you have a double piston caliper. One of them may be sticking.

Not really much rust on the bike at all.

So.... problem solved!  I guess when you put things back together you need to put all the parts back on.  I've been riding for a few hundred miles without the "collar/link".  It's the round cylindrical sleeve that goes into the caliper where the caliper bolts to the break arm.  Pic below.  Seems to line up a lot better now but I'm noticing the disc might be a tiny bit warped.
