My plan for today, paint the newly built engine, didn't turn out half bad...it looks better in person.

This was my first time doing paint, had a run here and there (really the stator cover and shift cover), but I let it dry, sanded out the imperfection, and did it again with lighter coats. It'll look good as I drive past,

mkramer, what hardware kit did you use for your fasteners? i like the allen socket look,plus my original phillips are beat.

I bought a SS kit from Jim on the forums here, his email is in the FAQs under where to buy parts for your bike. Has everything you need for the covers.

Well, I had a small set back, I have to split the cases to remove a case bolt that snapped. Shouldn't be so bad, but a pain in the neck anyway.

Hated to hear about the broken bolt.

That can be a pain in the "whatever". Can't wait to see more on your build, as you can get to it.

Got the bolt out after splitting the cases. Was buried in the thread, but using a spiral bolt extractor, it came out easily. Cleaned the tap and it will be good to go for assembly. Now I have an excuse to fix the paint spots that weren't oh so perfect before...

Almost, must go slow, I can't rush anything...Maybe I can get the engine to fire up tomorrow...Just need to run the gas lines, install the Dyna S, and put oil in it....almost....

FYI, the frame is RED, just looks orange in extremely bright light!

If you're not going to race it, that bottom end should be fine for 60k miles, stock.

I'm sorry to say, I don't know what that grease is that you're referring to...maybe someone else does?

The wheel bearings should have seals on both sides already (unpackable), except for the earliest K2 and older ones. Those had seals only on the outside, but all of Honda's replacements had double sealed sides. The "little" bikes (not Fours) often had 1-sided seals, too.

Thanks for the info HondaMan. I had to split the case do to a snapped bolt back in...April? So everything looked good inside, minimal wear, etc.

The grease I ran by a car mechanic down the street from me, he said it would work fine. Its made by Fuchs, here's the description:

Pro RG2 - Synthetic Racing Grease
A super high melting point lithium complex synthetic racing grease for competition and road use.

I greased the swingarm with Castrol Synthetic bearing grease, followed the steps you recommended. Everything is coming together now....

I just wanted to say I really like the look of the powder coated wheels and hubs. I will be going that route at some point but I wasn't sure how the hubs would lace up if they were powdercoated. Did you have any issues?

After about 3.5 million kicks to prime it, and a quart poured down the gallery plug, she fired up...on about the 8th kick. Now, its really time to hurry this up and finish it!

I had her on the road around the block twice before winter hit. I have some kinks to work out. I have/had the carbs set at the wrong needle position (position 3, not 4 like it should be for the 627B carbs). It was running a bit rich.... Also, the '76F header does not tighten down as well as it should, I need to examine this this winter. Because of this, I have exhaust leaks. Also, with really no miles on new rings, I am blowing oil, but this could be attributed to the wrong needle position (too much gas=soaking the cylinders allowing blow by). It also backfires, but that could be caused by my other issues...

Other then some other minor things (fork seals

, Getting a seat done, having it repainted as it was a get me done job), stage 1 is basically complete.

Now, the 836 motor, that's a ways off. Still gathering parts for that one....

Sounds good! I am sure you will get everything sorted out soon enough. Now did you use the clubmans or Tommasselli clip -ons and how do you like them. Can you post a pic of your fork brace and where did you get it?
