Carb air screw question for Dummies
« on: May 09, 2020, 03:42:52 PM »
Forgive my ignorance, but I have a question (or two) regarding the air screw on the carbs on a 350F.  Is this screw only to adjust the idle mixture, i.e., it does not affect the bike when it is running down the road at 60mph, only when sitting at a stop at idle?  I'm trying to get one last issue dialed in and this info would help greatly.

And if the answer is yes, it only is used when the engine is at idle, then it probably doesn't affect the way the plugs look if a proper plug chop is done, right?

Thanks guys/gals!

Yeah the mixture screw will really only effect idle, pilot jet about the first 1/3 of the powerband, rest is your main jet.  So you are correct for an issue at freeway speeds youll want to do a plug chop at higher rpms to get an accurate reading
