CB750K5 -> K7/8 Front Brake Questions
« on: August 06, 2017, 05:43:59 PM »
So I am looking to upgrade the front brake to the EBC steel rotor and noticed it only fits K7/8 front calipers from what I can tell.

To make it fit my K5 should I only need a K7/8 caliper arm/bracket and caliper, or are more/different parts required?

Sidenote: I can't get the forum search function to work. Is it broken?

AFAIK the only difference between early and K8 calipers is the pads are different, so the disc should fit no probs, it should be the same bolt pattern to the hub as earlier models

The K7/8 pivot pin and bracket are the same as the K5, so you only need the caliper and arm. The late caliper/arm mounts the piston and pad further from the center of the axle, and sweeps a more narrow band on the rotor, giving more clearance.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Notice the offset of the piston side of the caliper.  These are the best i could find.

you'd think after using that crap design for years they'd have done an update that was worth the effort (like using the calipers they were already using on wings) instead of just updating a flawed design to a newer flawed design

The early one was flush with the caliper arm? Just making sure so I buy the right one!

The later (F0/F1/F2/F3/K7/K8) disc calipers had a smaller disc under them, and they had anti-squeal (nylon) rings behind the pucks. The pads are a different type, too.

No, they appear to be labeled correctly.
