Finally rode my CB today after 1.5 years
« on: June 04, 2005, 06:47:04 PM »
After having the motor out  for 1.5 years the bike is complete and I must say running great! This last rebuild included the M3 5mm valve stem conversion and heavy porting (it has been 915cc for awhile). The engine also had the transmission undercut and the M3 cam chain tensioner installed. There were many other tweeks performed. The reason for the delay was the machine shop....that's what happens when your friends. Other work I brought in-for other people- was completed promptly while my stuff sat there. I love the guy like a brother but in a one man shop "favors" get put to the end. Plus he knows I have 2 other bikes to ride! Anyway it doesn't matter now. It was great to get out on the old bird. I installed a digital oil temp gauge and the oil never got over 200 degrees or below 175- that's with an Earls oil cooler and Terry's spin on filter plate ( it works great Terry!). I just have some jetting to do (CR-31's) and a good bath and she's done. I'm going to post some pics. After riding this bike for almost 30 years I still dig it...enough said! ;D

Where did you get the gauge and how was it installed?

Bob  Got it thru Parts Unlimited. Dennis Kirk also carries it. It is made by Shindy and carries their "Daytona" brand name. http://www.shindypro.com/catalog/each_q_ptype.key33.html    I'll post pics of the install( as long as I can figure out how to JPEG). Not as good on computers as on bikes (boy....that's an understatement!). Unit does work great and has a clock function too.
