Last night I picked up my latest project, a 66 s90. It came with almost everything. One of the missing pieces is the throttle twist. It looks to use a different setup than any bike I've ever had. Anyways, I'm struggling to find one. There are reproduction parts I can order from Taiwan, but I'd like to have it sooner than 2 months from now, so I'd like to find one here in the US. Anyone happen to have one sitting around or know where I can get one?

Heres a pic of the bike when I got it home. The ape hangers were the first thing to go.

You can get stuff from Taiwan very quickly these days....

I have bought parts from there in the recent past and it took near 2 months for one part and over 2 months for the other. After a bit more internet searching, I found what I needed, so I'm good.

 I bought some red rear turn signal covers for my T500 from China,hard to find, and they arrived in just over a week at a very fair price. I bought an S90 parts bike for my future project and it is stripped and in a tub or two. Can't remebmer if I have that part or not but will check on the next trip down to the shop.

Nice S90,put a pr. of CB400F handlebars on her and it'll look nice  8)

I ordered a set of stock bars. They are very similar in rise to the 400f bars

There were two different bars or more used on the S90, a high bar set was common looking like mini or baby ape hangers in some ways that had not grown fully.  And the low bars...

DrATV carries the silver sleeving used on bikes of that period and I think 4 into 1 carries it as well.  5mm = 2 wires, 7mm = 2-3 wires and 9mm for 4-5 wires.

The CL90 used a higher bar with a crossbar linking the sides of the handle bars.

Have fun with it!
If you wish to do a rebuild for much more power, then there is a guy named Scott K. Who is on the Yahoo group who can give you lots of practical advice how to blend some ATC 125 parts in with the S90 to give a lot more displacement.  He does trials competition with a Yetman framed S90.

Thanks. I appreciate the info.
I'm planning to keep it stock and just get it running for now. A while down the road, I'll swap in a Daytona 190 engine

I've done a bit of searching without much luck on an answer. Do you know how this throttle assembly is supposed to go together? I thought it would be obvious to me once I had all of the pieces in front of me, but it isn't. I don't think I'm missing anything at least.

There is also the remnants of a cut off wire inside of the main throttle assembly. There are no buttons or switches so I'm not sure why there would be a wire. It looks like it maybe used to be a ground?

I'm also wondering if anyone knows what this part is? It ca me in the bin of stuff with this bike but I don't see where it would go, or if it even goes to this bike.

The throttle is one of the old slide bar type. The handle bars should have a slot in them, that is where the piece in the 2nd pic goes. The twist grip "screws" over that and the part with the lever will clamp the whole thing to the bars. If I remember correctly the cable feeds into the bars by the steering head and feeds through the inside of the bars to the throttle. The cable pulls parallel to, and inside the bars.

It's been a long time but IIRC that little clip holds the outer cable in place or acts like a stop for the outer cable.

That was the kind of throttle I had on my C200, and it was used on the Trail 90's. Not sure if it is the correct one for an S90.

I hope that made sense, because even I'm confused now!

All of my parts came in in the last week so I got started on this the other day. I got the front end off to clean up and grease everything. I was about to put it back together when I decided I wanted to just tear the whole thing down, clean it well, paint the engine and put it back together. I wanted to hear the engine run first so if I need more parts I can order them and take care of it while its apart and not have to tear it down twice. So today, I got the carb back together, popped in the new battery, hooked it up to some gas and it fired right up. It sounded pretty good too, definitely no holes in the exhaust. I'm happy with how it ran, so I'm going to get it torn down the rest of the way and clean and grease everything as I reassemble it. I hope to be done with it by Friday.

That could be a CB92 carb box...any holes in it or is it solid enclosure?

The CA95 had the air filter in the backbone frame and you pulled the tool cover and then the tool tray was part of the filter retainer system...

I made a bit of progress today. I got all the various bearings, axles, swingarm, etc cleaned and greased. New fork seals and oil. I did a quick half assed paint job on the engine, frame, fenders, fork lowers, triple tree. It's a 15 footer. I just wanted it a little freshened up. Also did a lot of chrome cleanup and cleaning in general.  I still have half a couple little things to clean up and install, as well as set timing and valves and this should be good to go. I'm thinking maybe 2-3 hours to go.

I have one and it really is a fun bike. I replaces my front brake shoes and the braking went from almost non-existent to pretty crappy...but I was happy. I have heard new cables also help but have not go that far yet. Be careful about over tightening the shock-mount acorn nut...I learned the hard way

I got the valves adjusted and timing set on this today.  Went to start it up and got nothing. Turns out the petcock is clogged. A new one was cheaper than doing a rebuild, so I went that route. I got it hooked up to my fuel bottle and it fired up and idled after some adjustment. I hung the bottle on the handbags and took it for a spin. It was bogging down pretty bad under fuel throttle, but otherwise was pretty good. Just super slow.

Good to hear you got her fired-up  :)
I would clean the tank out too otherwise any little bit of sediment in the tank will feed directly into your  jets w/ a never ending job of cleaning out the carb.
