Good for them! While it is really nice to have the time, passion and money to put a lot of miles on a bike in a short period of time, I really never felt the urge to do an "Iron Butt" ride or anything of that nature. To me, motorcycling is a fun activity. Without the stress to get to a certain destination in a given time. There is a community among motorcyclists which adores and puts these "mileage slaves" on a pedestal.
While I was a member of the BMW MOA, a rider was glorified for putting over 180,000 miles on a bike in one year (!) When I dared to question that, just by crunching some numbers i.e: almost 500 miles per day EVERY DAY for a whole year, or approx. 10 hours riding EVERY DAY for a whole year, which, for a slew of reasons, seemed to be impossible to me, I was crucified by the fan club..
