Just remember, in 2018, cars use crank triggers and cam sensors. Bikes too. There's a reason for that but less moving parts to fall comes to mind quickly.

Pops, if the physical therapy doesn't help relieve my back issues, I may ask to borrow the Turtle 🐢 so I can continue to race. I need something that won't tank me around like my top gas bike. Those 1.10-1.12 sixty foot times put a strain on the body.

Electric, 12v, OEM Honda! It worked well before. Tried 24v, worked great till Ebay 900F 438 starter said I don't want to play any more after about 20 starts or so. We'll see. I like it so far.....oil pump and BE done! Yippee Kai Yeah.

Alright. Thanks for the info. I'm setting the project F up to start on 24 volts using a Honda DOHC starter. I'm going to run fully advanced, locked out timing so I'll need the extra umph to get it spinning. I've been using a DOHC starter in my Crazy 8's 1325cc KZ since I built it 4 years ago and the starter motor hasn't failed me yet. I do need to rebuild the starter clutch at this point because it slips intermittently.

FRANK: The 1982 CM450A Hondamatic that I'm putting together to race in MAN CUP SEL would be a ride in the park for you shifting from L to D with throttle wide open = Staging: hit that last stage bulb then lock down rear brake pedal and hold with left hand parking brake lever and open wide the throttle, last yellow throw out that parking brake lever and off you go [ .10 or .03 RT ] = at 7200 rpms on tach kick shift lever into drive. In 1/8 mile racing you can run the whole race in low gear. This bike had 3200 miles on it when I bought it from a 82 year old man that bought it brand new in 82. And you wonder why I want to see a 750A MATIC run 10's ????

You're rolling right along Bill. Good to see the progress.

By the way, I sent you a text Friday with the measurements for the 72mm bore piston ring I need. Not certain if you had a chance to check yours yet for size. Let me know.

We're still planning to come to the race next weekend. At this point, I'm uncertain of my race status but the wife will be entering pro ET if I can get her engine back together and the bike tested beforehand. Head going back on tomorrow. Hope to finish it and fire it up Sunday but no later than Monday night.😌   Need to have it ready for test and tune at Darlington Dragway on Wednesday evening.

Got word we'll have a new guest attendee at the races. He's rolling in Thursday. I don't think you guys have actually met him either. Billy, put up the flags for ID. I told him you usually occupy the finish line area.

See you guys Friday.

Yeah.....I hear you Bill. Actually the top 2 rings aren't bad....it is the oil rails. Like paper.

Nice with that wonderful block!
Somebody mentioned thin oil rails?
Thin flimsy ones that  just wait for popping out of the groove when cylinder is going on! I had to order new rings since I pinched one.
Look out for the oil rails not wanna be compressed completely when their sharp inner ends can hook into the expander ring.
My conclusion was:
Grind the inner corners of the rails a little so it cannot hook into the expander when compressing it. I wrote about this in Mikes Billet block thread.

The billet block was easier to get on when vibrating the piston and let the block get down by itself without pushing it.
