CB500K1 torque bar and brake rod colour?
« on: August 22, 2017, 05:51:03 pm »
Can someone please confirm whether the rear wheel torque bar and brake actuating rod are supposed to be black or unpainted.
They're black on mine, but looks like they've been rattle canned.  ???

My 550 are unpainted.  I believe the 500's were similar.

Pretty sure they are originally just zinc plated. My cb500 project came with them and other parts chrome plated, I have just finally finished replacing them all with original not chrome items - maybe if the chrome was in better condition I could have learned to live with it...

Thanks guys.  I'll strip the paint off and see what I'm left with.

I've also found that the torque bar is somewhat bent....I believe it should be straight, am I correct?

Yes the torque bar should be straight - often it gets bent to clear an oversized rear tyre.

Thanks for that John, I've got standard tyre size.  I've straightened it up with some deft application of a rubber mallet.  Looks much better now!  8)
