Completing My Stable
« on: August 22, 2017, 01:50:48 PM »
I've owned my Candy Sapphire Blue 1975 CB750F since 4/75. It has been through many phases in our lives. The "last" restoration spawned many good used parts. It bore a son from these parts.

After building my CB750F 1000cc Hot Rod I had a vision. They needed stable mates so I began a search. Within 2 days time I found and purchased these. EXACTLY what I had seen in my vision. Karma? Omen? Naw, just luck. And a bunch of $$ from my daughter's college fund after she bailed during her first semester.

2008 BMW K1200GT came first. I rode it home from Albuquerque. One owner with 6193 miles. Bags and all. CycleTrader.

When I returned I sat down to check emails that afternoon. I have had some active EBay searches happening. Lo and behold! This popped up and with an hour I pulled the trigger.

1979 Honda CBX. 3300 miles. Out of Ft Lauderdale.

I just THOUGHT I was a happy camper until the next day. Those EBay searches hit again. It was a WTF! moment. I used my final bullet and pulled the trigger for the last time again.

1983 Honda CB1100F. The guy I got this from purchased it from the first owner last fall. From the San Francisco area. 13,000 miles.

I'm thinking my stable is complete. I have a 2.5 car garage and can get the 2 cars and 5 bikes in this winter and thats about it. Won't be able to do jack in there without a major rearrange but that's a small price to pay.

My current stable.

Thanks for allowing me to share my happy moment  :)

Now I'm open for suggestions on how to make these pics show up without the link. Flickr and I are not yet friends.

What are you going to do harness them all together Ben Hur style.  Not sure we need to see in that gladiator outfit though. ha,ha,ha

O you forget to add one thing to your stable.  A good security system.

Congrats Jerry, all look great!  I need to plan a trip to CO...

I looked at your Flickr acct, not sure how you have it set up but when you hit the share arrow, I dont see the BB code [that needs to be copied and pasted] Do you have your acct set to private [not public]?

BB Code not available on private photos but HTML is.
Looks like when HTML was made available on private photos, BB Code wasn't.

Uploading to my computer is something I DON'T/WON'T do. I previously sent them to PB from my phone mini-screen and then sat down and used this large keyboard and screen on my desktop to pull them up in PB then I'd simply copy the IMG code and paste it to my topic. Viola!!

That's your picture's url in the IMG code, only thing i looked at the source code to get the url you just need to play and find the right button to get it ;)

Nice CBX. Definitely better than average condition, although you paid a steep price for it. I guess this is where they are going now.  Will not complain, I have three of them. Will make a nice return for an addition to the retirement fund at a later date.

The VIN plate on the steering neck bears a build date. Yours should be either 11/78 or 12/78. I keep a record of CBX data. Would you let me know what yours is?

Good looking herd you got there Jerry. I've always wondered about the cost of insurance for people with multiple bikes. I know it costs a bunch to register multiple vehicles per year but what about insurance? I mean....you can't ride them all at once so do they give a good affordable discount or nick you for every bike?

I have 16 bikes and 12 of them are older than 25 years. I am with State Farm here in ohio and they have excellent rates for vintage classics that are registered as historic vehicles. I pay $40.00 per 6 months for my 1979 CBX insured for $8,000.- value, full coverage with a 250/250 deductible. every two or three years, I update the value with an appraisal and pictures.

Fred, it KINDA depends on what coverage you want and what value. For instance I just got a liability policy to get things rolling. I haven't been on the road since my last accident 4 -
5 years ago. I needed plates and that was required. Geico over the phone. Started with the K1200GT. $102/year. ($315 full coverage). He asked if I had more bikes to insure. Sure, 75 CB750F. $122 for both. Any more? While you're at it another 75 750F. OK, $123 for all 3. I only plan on circulating the moving parts/fluids of the 1100 and the CBX at least initially so not licensing or insuring for now. Our tax rate is 8.25% too and don't wish to shell out any more money to license and register for now. They didn't come cheap but they came  ;)

I do have a collector plate coming for the hot rod so that would be a good option. State Farm was nasty to deal with as the victim! They may not talk to me LOL.

That doesn't answer my question Mike. I'm not talking about historical bikes. You say you have 16 bikes but you only tell us what it cost to insure the CBX. I'm talking about being able to hop on any one of the 16 bikes and take a putt. You would have to have tags from DMV on each bike but what about insurance?
