Ash Tuesday?
« on: September 05, 2017, 08:01:50 AM »
No wonder I woke up with a headache this morning - there's a fine layer of ash all over the ground.

The sky this morning was a dull red/brown color - I assumed was from the wildfires burning in the Cascades.  It is, but those same fire are dumping ash all over the area.  I'm guessing it's the fires around Crystal Mountain - it's the closest.  Makes me wonder how much we're gonna get.

Cle Elum(Jolly Mtn) Fire.  I fished the Icicle creek with my son and his buddy outside of Leavenworth on Sunday.  The fires were just 10 mi south of where we were.
It was horrible over there.  You could taste it in the air.  Visibility is usually unlimited this time of year.....but we had maybe 1/4mi.

The full moon was blood red last night  :-\

It was the same for Burbank, California all weekend.  Hope the fires up north get under control quickly.

Yeah...its strange.  Like wearing amber/orange sunglasses, and humid.
We were checking out the sun thru some eclipse glasses.

years ago we had major bushfires down the west coast, but being a long way from town I thought more of it. went out to wash the (shiny new white) bike, walked back into the house and happened to look out the window, wondered why it was snowing on such a nice summers day and realised it was fine grey ash, the wind had blown it from the fires about a hundred miles away and covered the whole of the city in a fine grey powder. went out the back and sure enough, white bike had become grey in a matter of minutes

In west central Illinois we had the smell of burning plastic coming from Canada. I assume homes were burning. The moon is red and last night it smelled like a barbeque outside. I hope this all calms down soon.
