Would this Yoshimura 600 kit fit a 550?
« on: August 23, 2017, 11:48:50 PM »
Wondering what the possibility of this for a daily would be?  Collecting parts and building a tall list to do it once, the right way.  Thanks for the help in advance!

Short answer, I'm going to say NO. At least not without some pretty involved machine work.

What's in the box? A cam or pistons or?
If it's a cam, then yes. Pistons, No.....or not easily. You have to bore the engine case to even get 550 sleeves to fit. The 600 kit is probably a 550 overbore.
You'd probably be better off starting with a 550 engine as the basis.

I swear that said 500 when I looked earlier. Maybe the coffee hadn't kicked in yet.

Bill- would this be a true 600cc?

Stev-O - Too funny!  Maybe it is a "secret" can't wait on that Clymer!

Anybody have ideas on a camshaft to match?  Or a Yoshimura catalog I could borrow thats period correct with part numbers, specifications and such?

you would have to look at the specs, but I think it would be very close,as an example a 900 kit for 750 is 890 in some cases,it will not be too much if you are not going to beat it bad, dont know much about 550 cams, but yoshi did make them.bill

Anybody have ideas on a camshaft to match?

I've been watching this one for a bit now, but I may never be in a position to afford it. Any one know any thing about this 'Futura" camshaft?

The 500 and 550 use the same camshaft so it should be compatible?
John
Honda camshaft part number 14101-323-000 is used in all CB 500 and 550 fours (I just checked).

Are Futura Cams a vintage brand or European manufacturer?

It saya Via Flaminia Roma there, so I presume it's Italian...... :-X

I googled it but aside from the ebay listing, found nothing...

I also would assume it's italian, probably vintage.

Would be helpful to know if it's for street or racing use?

John

I did click the link and haven't come up with any information on it yet as far as if it's a street profile or anything else yet.  May do the conversion from numbers given in the link.
