Harvey is expected to make landfall Sat morning in the Corpus Christi area, it will be catastrophic.

This is a huge storm and they are not sure where it will go once it hits land, but one model shows it will travel up the coast to the Houston area as a tropical storm.

There will be major flooding...

Besides the brunt of the full force of the storm at landfall, the forecasts I've seen indicate that the storm will stall and continue to dump rain for days once onshore. I hope the weathermen are wrong (although when has that ever happened?) and that everyone in its path fares better than predicted.

I hope so.  Sounds like it is a build an ark forcast.  That is alot of rain in a short period.  We had about 4 months or rain straight, but nothing like this.  The intensity over a short period could be catastrophic like Steve-O is saying.

Hopefully our members stay safe, and remember to pull the battery if you can't get the bike out of the path of the storm.  Electronics can dry and work again, but it with the battery hooked up I would imagine you run the risk of shorts.

Meh, all it's going to do here is rain and people are already losing their minds.
There's lines at the gas stations and they're stripping the shelves bare at the supermarkets.

Good to hear. Hopefully things don't get any worse. Thinking of all those affected by this and that relief comes swiftly.

No big deal where I am at. Only about 5 inches of slow rain so far. The Austin area has been on the back side of the storm.

However, a friend of mine's sister lives in Rockport.
She and her daughter came up to Austin on Thursday while her husband stayed in Rockport.
Fortunately their house came through with minor damage but they have a restaurant that is basically destroyed, missing back wall and big section of roof.
Rockport is wrecked. it will be weeks before power and water is restored.
I have a couple of friends with condos in Port A. So far all they know is their condos are still standing.
Houston, my god, it's getting biblical there! I hope everybody near there is ok.  :-\

Well, no, not in reference to the Austin area.
Like I said, not much happening around here. So far.
The south eastern portion of the state however is a whole 'nother tragic story.  :(

These storms are getting worse. There need to be some preventive measures taken, but they won't.

The USA has has major natural disaster before ie Earth quakes in San Fran, but they were over 100 years ago.  We just haven't seen anything like this in recent history.  And with population density disasters are magnified many times over.

Yep, water over the driveways, more than I've ever seen, but all good so far. Have to come up 10-12" more to get in the house. Shop still dry too and got power.
