Picked up the cam cover yesterday after repairs to fix PO's dodgy fix. apparently it was a bit of a pain to weld but im happy with the results. ready to ship off to powder coaters now.  :)

Life has been getting in the way of the build but time to get back on track. Have been collecting all the bits and pieces needed so as soon as the engine returns from being bored out we can get the mock up completed. Got some great pieces to go onto this one

Shot over to Phillip island invitational classic to have a bit of a look. Some stunning bikes overloaded the senses. Just a few snaps of some of the bikes racing and in the car park.

Finally able to pickup motor from coaters. Turned out very nice. Can finally start putting all the bits back in. Will chase all the threads and give it a decent clean tomorrow. Looking forward to getting hands dirty again.

The engine looks incredible. I’d never heard of vapour blasting. In the US, we can’t  even spell ‘vapour’ correctly.

Least favourite. Waiting 13 weeks for a full exhaust system from a reputable supplier with only a single reply to several emails saying "been busy it's on it's way" Now at the point of having to get out of bed at 2am and make phone calls trying to get a full refund.. But always looking for a silver lining iVe started practicing making my own exhausts. First one is in the scrap pile but I will get there. I don't have the skills yet but then again I didn't know how to do electrical wiring before my last build.  :D

Just into the reassemble of the engine and the centre shift fork is worn. can these be welded and reground. Can't find any for sale anywhere.

Before I pulled the engine apart we ran it up to check for noises. It kept slipping on the starter motor. As I was putting the main drive shaft back in I found the Springs and caps were all chewed up in the primary drive. Luckily had spares from old donor motor laying around.

Found one on eBay hiding away in some dark corner of the earth. Hoping it's in good condition when it gets here. Didn't risk hard welding and grinding. All the info on the site here put me in the right direction.

Drilled and tapped the oil dowels blocking them off with grib screws. Going with external oil lines to feed the cam directly.

Just waiting for cylinder and head to come back from machine shop so that I can finish closing the engine up. Took the opportunity to put a rebuild kit into the starter. A couple of washers left over!! I'm hoping they put extra bits in to cover other models. Spins up good when I put it on the battery so will bag and tag and carry on.

Cut the rear off ready for custom subframe. Picked up some nice fox podiums so I will have real suspension on the rear of this one.

Subframe almost completed. Just need to finish some welds and we can get stuck into the mock up build. Still need to finish detabing and add a couple of new ones for rear brake resevouir, relocate brake stay rod, powder coat frame and swingarm, brackets for speedo, drop front of gas tank down 10mm. And 100 other bits I've forgotten. :-)

Had a great day in the shed. Cases back together. Pistons in. Clutch and gearbox all working as they should. Starting to look good.

Front end going together. Warp 9’s and hubs arrive Wednesday. Then we do the lacing thing. Slowly we get there. Engine work stopped for a few days. Forgot to order new oil pump rings so have to wait a few days for them to arrive. A busy couple of weeks ahead :-)

Tail light location being calculated to the mm. Left a bit, a bit more. Hold it. I'm just going to get a beer and look at it for a while. Those things hurt when they hit you in the forehead. Hard to get good help when your creating 😀

Thanks Cal. Yep only have a couple of months before the rain and snow hits and really want to get this one moving before it gets too cold. I'm getting too old and soft to be riding in winter. Or should that be finally wise enough not to!!
