Exhaust came back from coaters today. Had it done in black ceramic. Added gold retainer springs to break the color up a bit.  Made up a hanger to keep everything in place. Added bracket to keep the external lines in place. Oil line bracket took 15 minutes to knock up but just loving how it turned out. Getting ready to attack the tank lining tomorrow.

Por-15 arrived last week so spend Saturday lining the tank. Was a freezing cold day so went to work and used a large industrial diesel heater to dry the tank between stages. Worked fantastic and kept me warm at the same time. Lining turned out really good. No pooling and a nice even coat throughout. A bit hard to get a good photo. Finished lining up the rear drive train and wheel and ordered a set of Pirelli Rosso 3's. Being fitted on Saturday. all going to plan should be able to have the bike standing up on her own by end of weekend. A bit of painting to complete the tank and seat to be fitted and once carbies arrive should be good to go.

The brake and clutch both came off a wrecked gsxr1000. PO had spent some serious cash on upgrades and then threw it off the side of a mountain. Right time & right price. He was ok. Bike wasn't.

I wasn't happy with the rear wheel. Spokes weren't lining up properly so took it to a local expert and he said he would have to redo it. He had to cut the spokes down and rethread them so they lined up with the correct holes. I was 1 hole out. So while waiting for the rear wheel to return I grabbed the tank and carbies off my other bike and took the plunge to get it started. Pretty pleased with the start up. Sounds quite deep and angry :-) so now we push on to finish.

I think I spend about 50% of my build time googling and chasing parts on eBay. i still can't believe what you can find if you spend the time chasing a bargain. I've never had a product not turn up. Some bits can take 3+ months to get here. I find the forum a big source of info on what bits to replace. But this will be the last CB I will do. Donor prices are just getting silly. we have to pay over 4K for a unregistered non runner.

Daggless would you be willing to offload some parts that you no longer require??

looking for a good condition front fender or the mount/brace as a minimum and also a centre stand. mine are both in a pretty poor state..

Any help appreciated!

cheers

With a 160 rear tire, you’ll be running offset sprockets, yes? Bear in mind, the left bottom clevis on the Fox is bound to obstruct the chain fitment. The body of the shock is a few MM wide and thus you need to “shim” the clevis outboard to Clear the chain travel. That’s the big downside to those Fox shocks, they’re just not quite the right body size for these bikes.

But the fix is easy enough.
Yes i have the offset sprockets and have also changed the sprockets over to 520. this has given a few precious millimeters of gap. as you have mentioned I made spacers to pull the clevis outwards. although it is still tight everything is clear and not touching. It would be nice to find decent suspension that can be fitted to the rear and still clear everything. Will have to keep looking.

Time to fix all the small gremlins. The speedo isn't reading. I fitted the sensor to read off the front sprocket. It looks like it's a couple of mm out so will move it over a bit and see if that picks it up. Got the rear wheel back on and is now perfect. Lines up exactly as it should. Will get the tire on and then bolt it back on one last time. Rear brake line to fit and a bit of bleeding and that should be done.

Much easier to remove/re-install headers and not have to use new crush washers.

In holding pattern while we wait for new cr carbies to arrive. Tank is away being painted. Have been spending too much time looking at the seat trying to get the lines right and just wouldn't sit low enough at the back. Have been playing around with a buell rear cowl but still not sure so have decided to make a new seat pan and keep it simple. Not ideal to be fibreglassing at this stage but have sealed everything up as tight as. Just need to get some polish on and will lay down a few layers.

Buell cowl.  Found a local company who produces all these lovely Carbon bike parts at really reasonable prices. It's nice to be able to support local. Not convinced on the look so heading down the custom seat pan route.

Just waiting for the cr carbies to arrive so taking the opportunity to fix all the little things. On start up noticed a small weep from the top cover. I previously had this repaired as Po had broken tab off and stuck everything back together with silastic. It looks like when everything is tightened up the rubber gasket isn't squished in 2 small spots. There are 2 small gouges from where the welds were cleaned up. Not big but just enough to take pressure off the gasket and allow a leak. Any ideas on best way to build the galley back up or pack the back side of the gasket?

Been busy with a bit of travelling for work so time in the shed has been limited. got stuck into the seat to get it finished off. i stuck the foam down and shaped it but needed the professionals to do the leather cover. came up a treat and looks real sharp on the bike. still waiting for carbies. only been 4 months since i ordered them   :'(. tank is still away getting painted but should have it back next week. push is on to get this one done.
