well, our national championship has hosted for the first time a round of the european classic endurance series and the world best big bore 4 strokes were lined up for the race at Imola. thought you might want to have a look.... just a small selection, there were 50 starters!
the suzuki uk classic team katana is so slick that it's mildly disgusting :) think about motogp tech applied to a 80's bike and your'e there, almost.

And yet there was poetic justice in Imola, the number 110 Guzzi which looks almost like a stock Le-Mans III beat the foreign 150 hp legions after 4 hours of racing, with demon Guareschi brothers at the helm. If the name sounds familiar it's because Vittoriano Guarescchi, the older brother was Ducati's MotoGP team manager during the Rossi days in red. Now he's back to wrenching at his dad's Guzzi dealirship.

Just finished and shipped a cylinder head for big bore European endurance racing. And it wasn't for a CB or even a Honda for that matter. ;D

Went well, won my first regularity race, tnxs for asking :)

But before you start celebrating an explanation is needed. With my 1984 Gpz550 not having a competitive class to race, i am obliged to do regularity racing class where the winner is the rider who's most consistent compared to the first flying lap. So am quite happy about this and over such a long lap as in Imola, well over two minutes, varying only about +/-0.4 seconds a lap means that i was very precise indeed, but i really want to go back next year to proper racing. And yet, a win is a win and on top of the trophy i received also a bottle of wine and a box of fresh local pasta as a present, made Lorella very happy too!

Worth mentioning that this has been my first time in Imola and this is a super satisfying track to ride.....plenty of flat out blind turns that give you the chills.

Consistent lap times especially on a new (to you) track is quite remarkable, so kudos to you my friend. I always felt turning a hot lap is doable, but repeating lap after lap is the sign of experience and true talent.

We always think of the GP or WSBK  guys in regards to consistency in lap times because that's what is easiest to follow. BUT honestly these bloody guys are aliens and not to be compared to us mere mortals.

I had this conversation with Chris Spargo at Mosport. Chris is an AHMRA fast rider and suffered a hard get off at Road America. By Mosport he was riding, but was off his usual pace. Crashing not only hurts physically but it gets in your head too. I told him at 62 I suffered from the heebie jeebies too and that he wasn't alone. The GP guys step off at speed, run back to the pits for the back-up bike and are back to pace within 10 laps.....obviously not human.  ;D

nice pictures yossef , its a good series in fact if they practice hard one day they may lap as fast as as the good tz350's in icgp !

simon, guess you will not like hearing this, but the top two strokes, (ex-works aprilia AF1 250, Honda RS250, TZ250 4DP) were doing 2:12-2:13, there were also some british icgp guys with 350 Yams but they were slower....
The top endurance big bores were lapping 2:06 - 2:08.
Situation might be different in other circuits of course

Good series indeed, if you can afford it. Some of the teams have WSBK sized trailers/workshops parked outside the boxes  and that Suzuki UK Katana had brand new RG500 replica forks CNC'd out of a solid magnesium chunk.... that piece alone must cost like my entire motorcycle collection!

hi yossef you would need to compare the fastest lap times with the best times from an icgp race . very difficult if there is not one on at the same event .
at all the race meetings i have been to where both classes have raced the 350's are faster .

having said that i do love the class , as you have said though you need very deep pockets to compete !
i have some of those forks on order , i dont know how much they are yet though , dont panic me !
