« on: September 07, 2017, 06:50:57 PM »
Drained the oil tank, removed and installed new filter with new o rings. But the bottom oil plug is really snug. Dont want to take a breaker bar to it. ANy suggestions?

Use a ratchet with 17mm socket, adjusted to loosen. I have noticed that it is very easy to do it in wrong direction with bolts up side down, tighten instead of loosen. Correct tool no mistakes.
Same with carbs if mounted and float bowl removed removing the needle jets.

I would use a box end wrench and tap it firmly with a hammer.

+1-  I use a rubber mallet on a wrench or socket handle. The sharp blow will usually break it loose safely rather then an overpowering constant torque. New sealing washer would be nice to have on hand when you re-install it.

Use a 6 point socket on it. Less chance of slipping.

I prefer 6 point on a breaker bars of flex head.
Often it needs a sharp wrap...I prefer not to do that to ratchets.
Son it was probably over tightened, not sure if a torque spec us listed, but it does not take much.
