Finally a little work on this bike. My K6 consumed all bike working time the last months.
The original tank that belongs to the frame and bike identity got some magic gel to verify that the Honda badge mount bracket with holes are still intact under the paint and 2k plaster.
Look OK, except for scratchy metal job under old paint job.

The tank was brown from the beginning, Brier Brown. I'll paint the tank and new side covers with a good looking brown metallic I have seen on a car recently, Peugeot 3008 SUV that sparkled wonderful in the sunshine in Spain.
Cuprite Brown metallic, also called Cuprite Metallic Copper. It need a black filler to paint on according to the paint seller.
Color Code  ELG
YOC 2015

I'll make it with spray can's. Car paint mixed in cans topped by 2k clear. K2 tank stripes and side covers to be ordered. (+ Honda K2 badges and Honda diamonds with visible Hm.

After work: Did some more gel, now underside that need to be sanded before 2k primer/filler the entire tank will get.
Tomorrow upperside, the visible side. hopefully no hidden dents to carefully fill, sand, fill, sand, primer, sand and maybe fill again, sand, more primer....  ???

Well done Per, the underside of that tank looks new! I bet the top side doesn't look as good? I'm not a fan of brown bikes (or cars) but I'm sure it'll look good. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'll clean the top side later today.

I did not like the thoughts of the original color Brier Brown to start with. I got thoughts about a better sparkling dark brown with a red tone. I got the idea a few weeks ago when I saw the Cuprite brown metallic  Peugeot 3008 sparkle in the sunshine. Golden K2 stripes will look fine on that color.

I'll order Spraymax spray can products, 2k primer, 1k brown metallic, 2k clear...sand it when cured, stripes on and a few layers 2k clear again on the tank.

No worries Per, make sure you wear a good mask and paint it outside with that 2K stuff, it's fcuking dangerous sh1t! ;D

The paint stripper is strong!  :o  some drops hit my skin and it burns some  ???
There is some sanding and scratching left since my brain has got enough of the magical gel vapor for a while  ;D

I see some dent like marks that I cannot feel by finger. Thick layer of 2k primer-filler followed by light sanding might be enough.
Petcock and cap protected the tank inner from getting wet and start to rust.

Time for removing those parts and cover with tape before sanding and priming.

Make sure you wear a mask mate, I watched a young friend of my brother in law spray painting his engine bay with 2K paint back in the late 1980's, he's dead now.............  :'(

Dead due to the 2k paint session?
2 x-girlfriends died young 37+ vs 55+, 9 vs 15 years after our adventures, maybe 1k nail varnish? Both were very well developed and equipped. Cancer vs sudden plug in da brain with instant death where standing  :(

The paint stripper need to be done with garage door wide open. Much vapor when I rinsed the tank under warm tap water. I did not want to use my power pressure washer outdoor and let the stripper gel blobs to splash on my car. One drop on the car paint will not stop until it hits the metal.

Time to order rattle cans. Spraymax seems to be OK. I'll ventilate...

David was an apprentice spray painter when he painted my brother in laws engine bay, he stayed in the paint trade for a few more years until he contracted cancer, and was sick for several years before he passed. Back then everyone smoked, and few painters even wore paper masks, let alone breathing equipment like they're required to wear now.

What the hell were you doing to those poor women? You had 2 girlfriends who died? Are you some kind of Swedish serial killer? :D

They could probably not live without me! ;) I'm happy that I did not have any contact with them since many years. That should have been hard to take. Real waste with 2 hot chicks, always up for it!

I'm sure that your painting friends smoked while painting, right?

I got a box with rattle cans yesterday.
Tank need to be prepared. A few strokes more with the stripper before sanding it.
Black 2K primer/filler next if I cannot find any obvious dents to fill before.
New side covers with Honda badges are incoming from Yamiya, probably delivery today. K2 Stripes and tank trim coming from CCC

Not much done on this bike except for paint stripping the tank.
I have got a box with rattle cans from Germany.  https://www.spraydosen-shop.de
2K primer/filler, 1K Peugeot Cuprite Brown metallic, 2K clear coat, 1k primer for plastic  (side covers).

Another box from Yamiya with unpainted side covers, Honda K2 tank badges, side cover emblems with diamonds, all in Honda bags.  The copies cost not much less.

CCC shipped K2 tank decals and tank trims.

Tank and side  covers will be painted later next month when I have vacation and time to do it, hopefully properly with decals applied and clear coated again.

Small steps forward.  Got a NOS K2 ignition switch from Thailand today. A must with proper parts while still available. I had a crappy looking aftermarket switch. Bike has got more and more NOS parts still not assembled.

Tank and side covers ready to get 2k primer-filler this weekend.
I have forgot how much work it takes to prepare a paint job. Tank will get sanded after primer, hopefully no need of more 2k filler putty and sanding all over again.....again... again... ;D

I'll cover garage door and area around where overspraying with thin plastic sheets.
Yamiya ABS side covers, sanded with grit 800. Tank will hang when spraying the primer. Base and clearcoat to be done horisontal, resting on a jack stand possible to rotate.

Hi Terry, the garage is the warmest room of the house. No need of heater.  Temp in the garage now is 23.5C, out a few degrees.
The ventilation is another thing. I have sealed the door between garage and washer room to avoid stinking fumes to enter the house.
I need to hold my breath and paint thin and quick ;)

You are OK now Terry? Al internals working fine and your diet involves juicy burgers?

Ha ha, no worries Per, I had Prostate Surgery last week. This was quite unexpected, one morning a couple of weeks ago I woke up and couldn't piss. Turns out I've inherited my dad's prostate issues, so after medication failed to solve the problem, surgery was the only alternative.

Nope, my stomach problems are as bad as ever, still on liquids since August, I spend my days watching "Man vs Food" and "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" while at home recuperating from my most recent surgery, living vicariously thru the lucky folks who get to eat all that magnificent food!

I'm back in hospital on Friday to have another dilation (the fourth, so far) to help me to swallow solids, but considering that the last 3 haven't done anything (I choke on the 11 tablets I have to take everyday) if my surgeon doesn't have a plan B, I'm not holding out much hope for a big Christmas dinner this year........... ;D

Our old Hondas work just better and better after some surgeries and updates. Hope you will too!

My father got also prostata cancer, found after 70 yo, the good version possible to medicate. I have done blood test which look good.

I do not really understand why burgers make me so wild and allert! Like milk when I was a baby, today the containers that thrills me, not the content. ::)
The burgers here need to recover from prostata job, stomach can wait, right? Unwrap them and eat...mmmm... Garage work and burgers are friends  ;)

Finally a real step forward!
Tank and side covers got 2k filler-primer today. Spraymax rattle cans.
Better than I thought. No dents visible when spraying the tank. 2 rattle cans covered tank and side covers without left overs.  I might have used the 2k primer filler for tank only, 1k primer for side covers.

Surface very rough. I'll sand it a little with grit 800 before base coat 1k brown metallic followed by 2k clear.

The garage floor is a mess with lots of black powder from the overspray. My CB750 K6 protected by an old cotton sheet covering it.
I have a cheap air cleaner, air ioniser  in the garage which makes dust to fall down, not flying around.

Nice work Per, wet rub those panels with 400-600 wet and dry paper with just a drop of liquid dishwashing detergent in the water, and they'll come up silky smooth. Use a foam pad under your wet and dry abrasive paper, so it'll go around the contours of the panel without your fingers pushing ridges into the finish. Are you going to use a lighter colour undercoat under the brown? If not, they'll come out very dark over that primer. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hi Terry.
Thanks for the foam pad. I used cork pad  as sanding block before.
I'll apply the metallic  direct on the black primer. That paint is supposed to be painted on black. I hope for a dark  even result with metallic sparkles. Cuprite brown metallic.  It was Brier Brown Metallic on that tank when new.
My paint order.
Car manufacturer: PEUGEOT
Color code: ELG
Color name: CUPRITE/METALLIC COPPER

I'll do a quick dry sanding to make it smoother, remove paint dust sticking out. Not too much sanding so the metal or cover resin will be visible.  Water sanding need a few days to dry to ensure no moist under paint, bubbles or eyes.
Maybe 3 layers metallic to get an even result. Lets see how wet I dare. The metallic grains must look good. 2K clear comes after 30 minutes final flash off. 15 min flash off between each layer, metallic and clear.
Clear will be sanded before the K2 stickers, then clear again.

I’m currently waiting for the 2nd layer to flash off. I had problem with clogging spray nozzle after 1/2 layer. Started the 2nd can.
Fixed by blowing the rattle can nozzles with compressed air.

It look like additional 2 layers are needed for an even result.
Then wait 30-45 minutes. 2k clear. I’ll use 2 cans. 1 can left to spray after the stickers.  Photos will be posted later today.
