Much work and energy wasted, less done.
Rear wheel on.
With  sprocket plate to make it look more stock, hopefully no issues when lifting a riveted chain I'll not open.
(Lift front sprocket give slack enough to remove rear wheel or lift engine which have worked fine on my K6)

Before that fix the dirty sprocket holder with new bearing, sealer after clean. A lot of work with cush rubbers I gave up ( 2 part version. I had also the later Honda style where both parts hangs together. Much easier and possible to mount in 10 minutes. Assembly lube made the work easier. I need to order one set extra that will need to be in stock home for my K6.

Brake side also dirty cleaned and reuse of old Honda stock brake shoes that got new springs and felt seal around shaft.

I had to replace the steering roller bearings.
I tried the lazy way replacing the easiest first (top and rollers only). I had to replace all since the bottom race in steering head was the guilty part of dimple action. Now OK.

New side stand kit with spring and bolt attached.  Next is fork, fender and front wheel.

Not a roller this year.
Using old unknown parts take time to clean and replace the service parts.
Fork got  new rebound springs, piston rings and seals.

Assembly of stock lamp ears with its rubber seals and gators took time to find out how to assemble. Last time was 39 years ago when I removed them from my K6. Assembly lube on the seals to make it possible to push the fork up thru the triple clamps.

Photo taken before I secured the gators with upper chrome rings. It took some efforts to get right and force to press rings over the fork ears making space for the gators to snap on the grooves.

Speedo gear need to be cleaned, new oil seal and greased before assembly. Tomorrow.... Next year

Front wheel on after some bending the fender to fit the holes on fork. Mostly small and not that dirty jobs left.
I need to restore the old K2 gauges with their top bridge. There is a K3-K6 bridge that keep fork in place temporarily.

I looked for banjo bolts today. I was sure I had a complete set new, found only 1. Must order 2 minimum. I have to think about what else I might have missed to order and misplaced. I must assembly everything else before order when it must be more small things.

Functional front brake is OK to be the last thing.

A few parts later. Reflexes and headlight with blinkers fitted. Honda stickers on them show new Honda parts

The headlight reflector I had in mind to use (old from my K6) feels a little bit tired with loose fitment in its frame. I have new DSS headlight rim kit.
Orderd a new Hella insert, part no 1A6 002 395-071. H4 with parking light for right hand traffic. Same model as my K6 got 2016.

Lucky day when finding a missing piece of my chain side plate pressing tool that I have not seen since 2013. I was close to order a new tool only for the master link side plate that need a tool.
DID 530 VX went on.  Hollow link this time.
Its the carbs that rests on the engine under the green cloth. Soon time for them.

A stinky day in the garage 
The tank and side covers got the final layers of clear. I'm happy that I ordered 2 cans more. 1 can for tank after graphics applied is not enough.
Metallic must get clear in spades!
3 cans of 2k clear today. I did not forget the side covers sides this time.

Heated the cans before to get better flowing paint. They were too cold last time.
Started with 2 cans. The 3:rd heated up later with a hairdryer.

Side covers got CB750 Four and diamonds. Brown metallic is not that bad.
Edit: I could not resist another visit and mount the chain guard with fresh black paint.

I have some jobs left to do. Oil filter and oil tank + lines with 2.5L oil can be added really soon.
The electrical connections with handlebar to be done. I'll wait with Hondaman ignition until the bike has got 200km on the road.
The aftermarket seat need the Honda logo. i have stencil and silver vinyl spray.
Tank need fuel cap and petcock.

The K2 gauges will take most time.
I bought green-blue metallic spray today to paint the under sides of the new faces that are too shine thru compared with stock. I hope I can press the new rings tight together without marks.

Carbs have float heights of 26mm. I'll adjust to 25mm when they have aftermarket float valves with harder springs.  It will be fun to use an air box again. It has waited in a plastic bag where I put it 1983-84.

I had to enlighten this thread with photos making the bike look more ready than it really is.

It got the oil tank with oil lines and 2.5L oil in it today. That oil for the first brake-in (100km). It will get 20W-50  with new filter after that first cleansing run.
Black stock looking lines from a guy at the German CB750 forum fitted like a glove!
New Honda oil cap look not as shiny as they did in early 80's when my K6 got a new. I forgot to tighten it so it landed somewhere beside the road.

I had planned to mount the 4-4 no numbers after cleaning them and carbs today. Tacho lunch spiced up with Carolina Reaper powder needed some extra red wine....I'll see if I'll do it today.

Oil hose from back of the crankcase to oil tank is a thinner model on the K2. I use a fuel line that fitted really well (ID 8mm Gates braided. No space for a clamp on the crankcase spigot. I'll might try to wrap a steel wire around just for sure.  On oil tank spigot black nylon cable tie.

I have done a little bit more today.
The 4-4 went on, the diffusers (baffles) found after going thru all shelves and finally found them were I first looked. The bag they were stored in was dirtier than I remembered looking like oily trans stuff.

I used a little bit longer allen head screws (M8x25mm) for head ex spigots to tighten them better with around 2 thread turns more and a little bit harder. Stock can ruin threads if worn when shorter and difficult to tighten make them to come loose and get irritating squealing vibrations in exhaust just before 5000 rpm sounding like a cam without oil, very alarming

This was the last dirty job. Airbox has some old dirt from the first part of the 80's.
Restoring speedo and tacho need some black paint on covers and top bridge.

I hope I can start it within a month. My K6 need some love too.

Hi Terry,
It did not take long after engine was found by the frame December 23:rd.
I did the engine end of 2017, so it has been waiting 1 year    I planned to paint the tank last summer but the garage was way to warm for any activities and my K6 needed to be ridden!

My garage is now less crowded since I have bolted the parts together in one pile called CB750. I hope I can do the carbs after work today.
I'll order a new rubber seal under rear lamp holder. It is dried and rotten, falling apart when tighten it. More €€ to spend. My K6 has also the K1 style so 1 more of that rubber seal.

Carb wrestling today.  Heat gun only did not help all the way to let the carbs to enter the new Honda carb boots.
I had to lube the rubbers with carb cleaner spray. I had that at hand, not too oily stuff to risk let them slide off.
Lets see how the Yamiya stock like fuel hose will work. Need to verify full throttles before air box.

I had hot water in my mind but I did not dare to risk a drop of water to be left and drip into the just sprayed layer causing a fisheye.

The garage needed to be warmed up from 23 to 25C. The clear cured much quicker this time with warmed up cans.

This was a good test of the alarm in the garage fire sensor that started to alarm due to the mist. Speaker in kitchen and living room where the alarm shouted fire in another room, the phone called from the company that most likely saw the mess since the alarm camera activates when triggered.

Fitted the coils. Dyna 5 ohms.
I'll try to lift coils a little with M8 nuts as spacers between coils and brackets to get space for the rubber boots for the HT wire attachments very close to the frame clamps.
Tested various routing for the throttle cables.

Adapter wires need to be done with crimped connectors for coil 12V wires and blue, yellow. I'll try to keep the harness as intact as possible.

Adjusted the mounting heights of the Dyna coils. It will be easier to fit the HT leads with the rubber boots with clearance to frame.
Tank did not mind either. Adaptor wires connected  to main harness waiting to be connected to coils.  Honda stock like pins and sockets isolation not that secure, can slide off. I used vulc tape to ensure the isolation after I had crimped them.
The throttle cables routing verified with minimum bends.
