Pamco Ignition
« on: September 21, 2017, 07:51:22 AM »
I have a 77 cb750k running a pamco ignition, the bike has been sitting for about 2 years. I'm trying to get it running again but can't seem to get a spark. There are power and ground to the unit just no power through the green wire to the coils. Is there a way to test these units isolated so I can count it out of the problem? I tried emailing Pete through his website with no luck and I see he no longer has an active account here, does anyone know how to get a hold of him?

Pete will probably get back with you eventually.
In the meantime try a google search for "troubleshooting pamco".
There's a lot of info in the Honda Twins and XS650 forums about troubleshooting Pamco ignitions.
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

I would clip my tester on the trigger wire connector and crank the motor.  See if the crank sensor is sending a pulse.

I get power to the red wire on the plate itself just nothing out of the green. I am running motogadget mini switches. I also have tested it while turning the engine.

Just follow the Pamco description and it will work direct. It is easy to mount the rotor 180 degrees wrong on the advancer unit.

The bike was running previously. I am running an m unit, and my harness I made from scratch years ago. I took a look at a diagram online since I don't have one at home, I'll have to go through and verify my wire colors to a diagram and test each one again. It's a great possibility I was being a knucklehead.

Yes it did but a few years back, I'll have to go back and check my wires again. Might have been something silly on my part checking them.
