Here's some shots from today. I will try to summaries all the things I have done to it, but I am sure I will forget a bunch of stuff.
Originally bought for $400 running with a stuck master cylinder, smashed speedo and tach, rust everywhere, dented tank, rusty spokes, ripped seat, etc...but it worked!
I acid cleaned the tank, stripped it and rattle-canned it, rebuilt the front-master, got a seat cover and cleaned it up.
I rode it as a daily (no car at all) for about 2-3 years. It was my first bike ever and I had never driven anything prior to this let alone tried to rebuild something. I eventually bent a shifter fork from down-shifting/engine-braking into 1st all the time. I drove it from south Orange County to Cluver City (LA) all this time and had no idea that I was riding a death machine with a hole in the frame, blown shocks, no leathers, and old terrible tires.
So then I decided to rebuild it. I was going to be a tranny swap in 2 weekends. Then 4 garages later with piece labled in zip-lock bags it finally got put together with zero sealent on the cam-tower pucks and one of the gears replace the wrong way. It started on the first kick, but leaked and would only stay in 5th if you held you toe up the entire time. Really safe I am sure!
So then I took it apart again and rubuild it in to the Porche pastel blue F tank version with a custom leather seat...once again, head gasket leak.
So I took the top apart again and had it decked by APE. That is the current incarnation.
