Evel Knievel Museum, Topeka KS

I was in Topeka today on business and thanks to a cancelled appointment got to spend a couple hours at the new Evel Knievel Museum. Check it out if you van.

Fixed it for ya, unless there is a CB hiding in one of those pics.

That Laverda was sold as an American Eagle back then . The Sporty has a parachute. .

Oh, looks like they made part of the café and Harley dealership into an Evel museum. The café had pretty good food back when I was there last.

The café is on the other side of the dealer.

They have 2 of his actual XR750 bikes there and a few Sporties modified to look like jump bikes. They also had the custom Mack truck and trailer setup he used and his original jump ramps.

The CL77 is a replica of a bike he used at the very beginning of his stunt career when he owned a Honda dealership in Butte. The exhibit is a recreation of a photo of him on his Honda riding a wheelie.

According to the exhibit the parachute was mostly for show, but it saved his ass once when he did a jump at the LA Coliseum and the landing ramp runoff ran up the stands and he almost launched out of the stadium because he couldn't stop. The museum has the last 2 known surviving parachutes.
