brembo data
« on: September 21, 2017, 01:12:58 am »
might be of help for the race builders out there.
a friendly guy from down under / totally different forum sent me 20 megs of technical drawings of brembo components, including the older stuff: calipers, M/C, pads, levers

the caliper files make it really easy to design on CAD adapter plates for other applications.

if you need the file for a specific brembo caliper, just pm me.

I wouldn't know which specific caliper to ask about? Which is the most commonly available?

Thanks TG. Doesn't Brembo also make 6 piston opposed calipers?

Don't know if anyone needs them but new Grimeca 6 piston calipers are only 120.00 on ebay.

scotly

now that you are asking, i think brembo never made 6 pots, but i might be wrong. it was a very short lived fad anyway...

the most popular calipers here in classic racing are the brembo F08 and F05 which are period correct from mid 70's up to early 80's

in the newer classes like 92' superbike and 94' supersport people are using the 4 pot brembo stuff instead of the crappy sliding 2 pistons calipers that many 750-600 had as originals.

Hi, sorry to drag up this post from the depths of time! I don't suppose you have the drawings/print for the F08 caliper? This is pretty much the only resource I've found!

Thanks

I was hoping you weren't going to ask that!  :-[ Mainly because I have the wrong number of cylinders, valve train and its sort of German. I have an early '86 BMW R80 which I'm in the process of restoring. While its been cold and miserable out I've set myself the task of relearning CAD so I'm drawing the entire bike, piece by piece from scratch. While I can sit here with calipers, a tape measure and my accurate radius gauges (a jar of buttons from the Mrs). I'd rather work from a real drawing.  ;D Obviously as recompense I'd be more than happy to provide the 3D files for anything you can provide the drawing for.

We are not brand bigots here on SOHC4 forums...folk tolerate an entire section of the forum for Other Bikes... Just a lot of Cafe and brat and similar bike mods and some hacks seem to be permeating the forum more in recent years ...it is a shame in my opinion when really nice original bikes get cut up into other creations. Lots of examples out there to do that with versus one that is in primo shape.
Personally I like the stock and resto mod bikes but I spend my money and they spend theirs.

The BMW bikes are OK in my book.
