Engine case interchangeability

I am replacing the lower case on a 76 750F.  After looking up part numbers, the year "1976" uses a unique case part number 11000-300-315.  Can i use a lower case from other years even though the part number is different.

Can i size bearings the same way with a unmatched engine case?

I was always told that the main upper and lower cases are a  matched set and you can't mix and match. Anything that hangs off of or on to the MATCHED upper and lower is good to go, just not the top and bottom motor/trans "main" cases.

These cases are machined as a pair at the factory.

AFAIK all you need to do is insure you have the correct single row output bearing cases or double row and the 76 CB750F should use a single row. AND as mentioned you should use a matched set of upper and lower cases due to the bearing saddles?? (or whatever the correct term is) being align bored together as a matched set.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Crankcases are align bored as a set and should not be mismatched.
