Followed Saltcitycafe guide on here for front wheel lacing. I think I have it correct but I wanted to check with the experts  ;D

Some of the nipples are protruding out. Doesn't seem as if they would all tighten down if I did.

You got them in there wrong.
We need to find out how many they cross, and if I nners all go the same way.

ok so it looks like the inners are only crossing 2 spokes. I should move the spoke over to the next inner of the same side?

A few things that make it easier.
Photos note whether Inners cross or not, count how many it crosses WRITE IT down..
And to help more measure angle between two spokes,  like just over 90 or just less, or even better cut a card board template. .. then youbwill catch a mistake at the beginning.

If I can 'see' it correctly, it looks like there are 6 places where the spokes are mis-placed?

Thanks for the input guys! I wont be able to continue this adventure until Sunday. :-\

The other evening I tried re-lacing them again following the directions to a T from here : http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=135846.0

Still ended with a similar result...I'm thinking that after flipping over the rim to do the second set of inners is where my issue lies.

Is it correct rim .
When a rimmis drilled for inner both one way, it won't work for crossed Inners and vice versa.

Compare the spoke hole exits carefully, the way they angle, between the rims,
But Inam guessing that they should be the same  since you managed to get the spokes in the rim.

Had 30 mins to spare so I gave it another go.... following exactly how the old wheel was in the picture. All nipples are at tension & each outer spoke crosses 3 inner spokes. I believe I’ve finally done it!

Each innie/outie spoke skips one hole on the hub and skips three holes on the rim. Watch the rim holes for entry angle, you can see the angle side to side and left and right.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Many DIY's on Internet are no longer working due to PhotoBucket.  :( >:(
A photo take not much space if it is cropped showing what needed only and compressed. 100-300 kB is enough. All photos will be left in the description on site even after the author has left and closed the PhotoBucket account.

Write everything in Word and make a pdf of it even better. ;)
