FYI -- Nick Edsell aka sinister902 sells Saint riding apparel.  The stuff is rated to slide for 5 seconds on asphalt.  It is NOT cheap but sure beats regular denim.

Dianese also make reinforced jeans woven with aramid fibers and Kevlar.  http://www.dainese.com/us/en/pants/denim/?prefn1=omologation&prefv1=CEA%7CCT2%7CCT0%7CCT3%7CCT5%7CDOT%7CSHA%7CNONE

There are photos of a beautiful young girl who now speaks on topic of proper riding gear protection.  She was a passenger on a sportbike and fell off when the rider did something at high speed resulting in her getting asphalt eating a lot of the skin on her legs, torso, arms.
I can probably did up the article. She lost so much skin it will be like having been a burn victim the rest of her life with the PT it requires to keep movement possible.

See the same here in France every Summer. The priority is to look cool cruising along the beachside cafés. Then when it all goes pear shaped the "victims" are fuming that "someone else's fault" caused them to lose control / collide / hit a wall etc etc

There are no more stores or hospitals here that sell new skin than anywhere else. Moral : take care of the suit you were born with, it needs to last a lifetime.

You guys have any crash results with those new-fangled armored Kevlar riding jeans and pants? Do they offer as good of resistance as a decent pair of nylon armored pants?

Some of the brands actually test (drag) their armored jeans for abrasion resistance.  Obviously, this does nothing for impact injury.  The regular Saint denim is rated to for just under 4 seconds on asphalt; their new model jeans are rated for just under 6 seconds on asphalt.  I am not sure about Tobacco, Dianese, ICON.  Tobacco uses a separate Kevlar liner under the jeans, so you first grind through the denim.  Saint and ICON weave the Dynema and other fibers into the denim to make it stronger.

Diamond Gusset won't guarantee abrasion resistance, I'm guessing someone "tested" it out and found that it wasn't nearly as good as leather.  That said, they have thick denim - good quality denim too, and Kevlar liner under the denim in strategic locations (hips and knees).

I swear by Diamond Gusset myself, they really do make good quality denim products - although I think they're becoming victims of the global market, as they pride themselves on being 100% American.

Apparently fish skin has helped burn victims and road rash victims heal. I believe it was common Tilapia as well.

Here's the article from Reuters...
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-brazil-burns/brazilian-doctors-use-fish-skin-to-treat-burn-victims-idUSKBN18L1WH

A better article with photos of a burn victim with the fish skin and afterwards...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4033254/Doctors-using-FISH-SKIN-treat-burn-victims-pioneering-new-treatment-heal-wounds.html

Pretty cool experiment with lots of promise.

The pain of a severe burn is quite intense.  Morphine sometimes can only dull it.

No, process prepping the skin removes odor and bacteria, etc.  Storage of the skin in refrigeration or freezer allows it to keep for up to 2 years...
It is a temporary dressing used to help the flesh beneath it heal, you still have the scarring and no skin.

Don't know if Google Translate will translate it for you Strynboen

i understand most English..its the speaking/ lettering..i have problems vith...
i sav a program abat skin repariers..they cut a piece aut of your bagside(ass)...and turned it through a magulator..vho maked it open and streched it abaut 10 times bigger..and put that on the burned areia..the ground cells then had a chance to grov and spread..and made a new scinn..but not the same kvality as the old one.

.so keep it on if you can..

That's why I am concerned about abrasion resistance. Regular old denim goes bye-bye as quick as skin does. My touring pants I wear for everyday riding don't look too casual a look a little spaceman-y. That's why I was asking if the newer armored riding jeans offered better abrasion resistance than the older ones and would equal a decent pair of nylon armored pants. I don't want to learn the hard way that my money spent was not much better than a regular pair of denim jeans.
