Maybe this repair may help another soul. Quick backstory is I bought this 1975 750 4 years ago or so on the day before Christmas to help out a dad who needed to buy kids presents etc. The bike came to me in pieces and the engine had suffered a cam failure from a blocked oil jet. Pretty epic damage on the can and holder
Anyways fixed her all up this past winter with an F model cam and holders etc. etc. and it has ran well with no problems. BUT the dude cut off the seat hinge mount on the frame to fit a 'custom' seat. CRAP !. I showed it to a friend this summer while we were doing a ride together who is an ace mechanic, restorer, fabricator etc and all around nice guy. His red K5 you see in the pictures won bike of the month here in the past. He called me up and said bring it out as he had an idea.
Looking at his 750 bike he found a couple of steel door hinges he had laying around and proceeded to start cutting trimming and reaming and welding and whipped this solution up for me. The end result came out very nice with a minimal amount of hassle on his part. Nice to have a seat that won't fall off and feel lucky to have talented friends to help me out. Thanks RL !! Of course it had to rain while hauling it. Another CRAP !
