The front of the K1-K2 seat is "dished" inward on both the pan and the foam. This was done when the K0 tank's shape changed to the K1 type. The height of the tanks is not the same, nor is the curve where it approaches the seat. This causes interference if the wrong seat is used. You can "dish" in the front of the K0 seat pan about (a little more than) 1 cm, and then cut back the foam so as to match the curvature of the tank, but you will then have to re-pull the front of the seat cover, maybe even slit out 2 vee sections and sew it back together, to remove the wrinkle(s) that result. I have seen it done, and well, but it wasn't simple!

Also: the back end of the ducktail seat sits very high off the rear crossmember if the standard rubber block is used at the back of the seat. To solve this, I used the rear block form the F0/1 bike's seat back there (thinner) and slightly bent in the hinges so they did not stand as high and let the seat pan block(s) rest on the frame as intended.

Thanks for the tips, my K0 has a later 750 tank right now, (spin on petcock)  but will get it's wrinkle tank back soon. I'll be more aware of the fit with new candy blue green paint.
The cheaper seat looks awesome but sits very firm. I've given some thought to doing a foam swap, I'd love to get another Yamiya red foam but $$$ wow.
My k4/5 whatever seat pan, replacement foam and cover will need some serious tweaking. So it may get parted out.

do you have the link to the cheap seat? i want to look at it and see what is the different with the $240 seat that i pay for.

Both same result will and will not clear the tank.

Btw i just got a email replay from yamiya. They mention that their K0 seat able to fit from k0 all the way to k6 with only need to replace the seat latch on the bikes to K0/k1 latch.

Here's a pic of the repro K0 seat I put on my K1, it fit fine and it should, when K0 seats became "Unobtainium" K1 seats were sold by Honda as direct replacements, so it follows that a K0 seat should go straight on a K1. I think it might have been a little tight at the front, and I always meant to trim the front mounting rubbers, but never got around to it.

I've got another one in the garage that I bought from Nic, who had it on his K2 with no issues other than he drilled the base to use a lockable K2 latch, it'll be going on my K2. I can't see why one won't fit any bike from K0 to K6, just like Yamiya say they will. Cheers, Terry. ;D

So now, most likely is the DSS seat that cost the problem. The production for the this repo seat is really bad

DSS no longer lists this seat for the K0. The better quality seat is also out of stock. They do show the K2 seat as available.

For those interested:
The bottom skirt edge of the "K" seat changed 3 times. The K0 was only K0, the K1 "line" was the same as K2 (and matched the bottom chrome of the tank), and when the K3 "platform" seat replaced the K2 seat during mid-year K3 production, the tanks were raised slightly at both the front rubber mounts and the back tab, so the chrome line would meet the seat's bottom edge.

This is why such odd things as: K5 tank will not fit the K2 frame's lines, etc. happen. ;)

The petcocks changed, too, no less than 4 times. They got 'taller', hanging down further as the bottom of the tank rose. The tanks with the spin-on thread bung have the highest floor level, and if you get the wide door-guard "Truck" chrome strips at the auto parts stores and put a little black pinstripe down the center of it, the new bottom line of this combination resembles OEM and makes the K4/5/6 tank fit the K2/3 seat line.

The Yamiya k1 low seat appears to have a ducktail foam inside of a K1 cover.
I'm considering getting a Yamiya red foam cushion on my next order from JT Marks. Since I already have the cheaper version seat which looks awesome, with a red foam it would sit good too.
The red foam is probably original to 14,100,  I've already installed one on 5511 and the stock cover went back on perfectly.

I have a question, I saw one seat apart had a rubber or plastic wedge that went in the ducktail peak.
But it seems not all have these. I think the bike was serial number 43,***.. But I do not know if seat. Was original to it.

Left side is the correct one for K0 seat. I got it order from yamiya. Right side is order from DSS using the stock K0 parts number that I found on parts manual.

The different not much, only the bolt hole is bigger and allow to do some adjustment before bolt down.

Edit: the hole that attach to the frame also got bigger hole. This should have more room for us to adjust the seat when we close and lock down the seat.

Haven't got change to set it out yet. Been busy today, but will try to get it tested tomorrow.

The red foam is a silicone type foam, I think. It was popular in the 60's and 70's. It may not last as long but is quite cushy and came standard on the early K0 seats.

the ko seat foam is also made up of many pieces which causes them to sag after time, unlike later seats that are one piece.bill

I think Honda had the full court press on building as many 750's as possible using whatever they needed. I read they sent buyers to hardware stores searching for bolts when they ran out of something.
