Need advice on getting a Tag
« on: October 18, 2017, 06:49:27 AM »
I purchased my 75 750 K back in 2011 from a guy in Indiana, ebay find. He sent the title and it show's the owner he bought it from. It was never tagged while he had it. Just sat.It was last tagged in 2006 from the guy on the title. Well after a long on and off restoration I am trying to get it tagged. Had my local police come out and do a VIN verification and he couldn't find the
bike in the system when he checked the Vin number. He said sometimes if it's that far back that info drops out of the system. title matches vin on bike. He didn't know what to do. I have tried to fine either guy, the one I bought it from and one on the title with no success. Any ideas on how I can get it tagged

So the owner on the title didn't sign the title on the back when he sold the bike?
You may have to go through a lost title process.
A lot depends on your state laws.
I suppose you could find the owner on the title, depends on the age of the title I guess.
Or you could just forge a signature.  ;)
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

That would be the easiest. Should I just sign and print his name on the purchaser side beside seller on title.

Shouldn't post on this thread, but you have the right advice. Move on. You have the pink slip.

And then there's always the Vermont Method to solve this registration dilemma. And it does not require forgery or fraud.

If "the previous owner  ;)" doesn't go ahead and fill out the rear of the form NOW the current owner will be in an unnecessary world of #$%* trying to get it registered!! Fill that sum#$%* in!! Consider yourself lucky the rear is blank. I purchased a car in another state 11/2016 and finally got it licensed 11 months later. The rear had a minor error - 2006 instead of 2016 on a 2009 car. Fukn amazing what they expect you to do between 2 DMV's.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
