No Rear Running Light? (CB750)
« on: November 06, 2017, 03:15:43 PM »
Got a weird issue on my CB750.  I looked around for answers a bit, but nothing straight up, so here we go.

I have a '72 CB750, and while I just got the wiring to the tail light and blinkers figured out, the rear running light still doesn't work in the "on" position.  Everything else will- blinkers, tail light, etc.  And the running light WILL work in the "park" position, but not while "on".  I checked the brown wire going to the light, and with the ignition on I'm only getting like .03 volts through it.

Other people with this issue pointed to the ignition switch next, but mine is brand new.  Any clue where to go next?  Or is this just a "feature" of the bike I don't know about yet (like it doesn't come on until the motor starts, or something silly like that)?

Thanks for any help.

Does your bike have the "Off" option on the headlight switch?  Earlier models do, and the running lights only come on with the headlight switch in the Low or High setting.

What Gordon said,
I have a ‘72 K2 and have to turn on the headlight switch (on the right handlebar) before both headlight and tail light will come on.

...and that would do it.  I've been in the habit of keeping the headlight off when I do wiring work/checks to help save the battery, so I didn't even think of checking with it on.  Thanks guys!

(I love the easy solutions.)
