thinking of selling
« on: December 30, 2006, 06:36:51 AM »
rode a harley 1200r yesterday and i have to say that after being a harley basher all these years they finally got it together for a good riding bike
now the problem
do i sell my 1978 750f to help with the down payment or keep it
it is very dependable burns no oil and runs well
or do i keep it for all those reasons and find another way to get some down payment money

Buddy of mine once thought he wanted a H-D dressed out, parked his Honda Dressed
Gold Wing, bought the Harley, rode it about 1000 miles, parked the Harley next to the Wing,
took the "For Sale" sign off of the Wing, put it on the Harley and started riding his Wing again.

End Of Story,  for him at least.

Kind of a dumb thing to ask at this site.  Go fast in the dessert for a week and let us know what you decide.

My 75 750F and my 03 Fat Boy get along just fine. You'll soon find out that even 2 bikes aren't enough. If your 750F is paid for there isn't any question as to whether or not you keep it!!
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

how much could you possibly offset the price by sacrificing (and i do mean sacrificing in almost every sense of the word) your cb.  when you have something so undervalued by the rest of the world you can never sell it and expect to be happy.  finding another one isnt going to be just forking that cash back over, itll be finding fixing and forking over for the next one.  i would sell your computer first, at least then you can find another one just as good for cheap in a year or two.  or put away fifty bucks a week for a few months.  id rather wait than lose my cb...

Keep the Honda and find other means for the downpayment. A friend of mine bought an anniversary edition 883 Sportster because he wanted a "HOG". He had to have one entire cylinder replaced before it got to 500 miles. It leaked around the base gasket and the dealer could only repair it with a new cylinder. He now owns a 883R with fuel injection and it has way more power than his  other one. When he traded the 03 model in for the 06 model the dealer made him remove all of the Harley accessories he had installed on it. Why, because they wanted to sell those same new accessories again to the new owner.
While the new Evo- Harleys are light years ahead of the pre-Evolution days in quality I believe their quality now is only equal to a Honda from the 70's. Just my opinion though.

TRAMP... ask another dumb question like that and you will be banned... haha  jk.

every time i get the "should i sell a bike" idea... i remember that they are all paid for.  try to view your motorcycles like you would a dvd.  you wouldn't just up and decide one day that you need to get rid of "almost famous" so you could put a down payment on a "sopranos final season"... would you?

if so, then go ahead and sell the cb... you're hopeless anyway.

oh and uncle E... is this the kind of dessert you mean?   ;D

Ah sell the thing,
Shur they are a dime a dozen....everyony on this site has at least one  ;D

Truth be known, and an honest opinion, a change is as good as a rest and if you need the cash, need the Harley, need the hassle.
don't ask such a question on a site dedicated to all who want to KEEP theirs.

You really need to keep the 750. First of all, they are near and dear to your heart. Second, you will need something to ride when the Harley breaks down.
