Vesrah Gasket Problems
« on: November 04, 2017, 06:02:59 PM »
I rebuilt the top end of my 75 CB550 and used the Vesrah "complete" gasket kit and had some issues. Just wanted to give a heads up to others and see if anyone else had similar problems.

For starters the kit didn't include the rubber pucks but luckily i saw this in the reviews on 4into1.  The real problem though was the oil pan, valve cover, breather cover and tappet covers o ring gaskets were too small and when they were sitting in the groove they barely, if it all, stuck out passed the mounting surface.  I ended up fixing the oil pan by adding some black rtv into the groove and setting the gasket in so it stuck up above the mounting surface and let it cure before reinstalling. Going to do the rest this winter. An easy fix but a huge pain to have to take everything apart again.  Vesrah has a warranty policy on their website but never responded to my emails.

Didn’t notice that issue with my “complete” vesrah kit.

Except they didn’t include jackshift for the lower case assembly.  Aside from the oil pan and a couple o-rings that kinda fit the oil pump

yeah those o rings are too small in the diameter, the old ones are most likely better,i to use sealant on the pan,i apply a neat bead and let it cure for 45mins-1 hour, then assemble it,you don't want to actually glue the pan on.
