Will a tank from a 71-75 CB500/550 fit on a 78 CB550K

I'm new to this site and hoping some of you can help me out. I've been sitting on a 78 CB550 for about 5 years and now have some time and resources to start fixing it up. One of the things it needs ASAP is a gas tank, the original looks like the PO's kids tipped it over (once or more) and hit it with big sticks. A friend in Utah has a clean tank he knows will fit a 71-75 CB500/550. before I pay to ship it up to Spokane I'd like to find out if it will fit my 78 CB550K?

 It will bolt on but the seat won't line up correctly.

F model tanks from 75 through 77 will fit as well as 77 k models.
All K model 550/500 tanks prior to 77 will fit the frame, but leave a gap between seat and tank, unless you also use a seat from those years, as well.

Thank you, everyone, for the information. Very helpful and I had my friend send the tank. At least I'll have a backup if I can't pull the dings and dents out of the original.
