New from Ottawa
« on: September 19, 2017, 05:34:48 AM »
Hi All
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Ottawa ON, Canada. I've been riding for 4 years. I started later in life, didn't get my first motorcycle until I was 51. But I got bit hard.  My first bike was a 1980 CB650C, the following year I sold that and moved up to a 1982 CB750C and only rode it for one season. the next season I bought a brand New Honda CTX700 (wanted something as a daily rider while I worked on my next project). at the same time I bought a 1980 CB900C with a fairing and bags.

My plan was to do a tear-down and rebuild. unfortunately I have just run out of time and room.. I am moving in less than two weeks to a house with a single car (3 bike) garage, so don't have room for the project bike and the 2 parts bikes.

Sooo.... I put the call out to a buddy, and we are doing a swap.  I am giving him one parts bike and the CB900C project bike, and he's giving me his CB650C. I"m really excited about this.  I have always regretted selling my CB650C. it was a fun little bike, and sounded fantastic.

so once I have settled into my new digs,  I hope to be spending a lot more time on this forum.

See you soon..

Thank you for the welcomes...

Took delivery tonight... it’s not a CB650C. It's just a CB650. That’s not a bad thing, just different. Discovered the tank was replaced. The original one was apparently all rusted on the inside.. only issue is the new tank is from a 650C so it doesn’t mount properly.  The Rubber tabs don’t line up properly with the new tank. May have to find another if I can’t have a buddy move them and weld then in a new position that works.

Carbs have already been cleaned and rebuilt, but may need balancing. It has pods, rather than the air box, which I thought didn’t work so well on these bikes, but was told the bike runs fine with them.. will have to see.

Have to replace all the clutch and throttle cables.  They are all seized up.
But I’m excited about the prospect of getting it running,
