CB650 transplant to a 2004 Kymco Venox
« on: October 14, 2017, 08:34:36 PM »
Though I would share a fun project that I am helping with.  My father-in-law has saved several dozen old Honda bikes along with a few other misc bikes.  He had fixed up this 2004 Kymco a few years ago and the bike has found it's way back home with a broken motor.  It now is in the process of getting a transplant.  I will try to post a few updates as we go.  The engine is from a 1980 CB650.

This oughta be cool! What model is the Kymco? Show us what it would have looked like from the factory.

I believe the Kymco is a 2004, it was a v-twin 250cc water cooled bike.  Here is a 2005 Venox review which looks to be very similar to the 2004: http://ridermagazine.com/2007/01/01/2005-kymco-venox-road-test/. Some stock pictures below for the 2004.

The plan today is to finish up wiring.  We brought over the CB650 wiring harness, battery box, coils, and reg/rec and will splice in the Kymco handle bar controls, brake switches, and headlight/tail light.  I was surprised to find the Kymco used most of the same connectors and most of the wire colors are the same too.  This will make for minimal wire splicing, mostly we just need to move the pins around in the connectors.

I have heard of Norvins, Tritons and ect.    What will this be "Kyonda" or "Honco"?  Still to be named?
I like what you are doing!!
