Here's what we did to my 77' KZ 1000LTD. We added Mikuni RS34 carbs, a Delkevik stainless exhaust system, euro bend bars, a new seat and Progressive series 12 shocks. I felt right at home the first time I rode it.

Kelly, between all three of those 1000's sitting there, which one would 'smoke' the other two? The VF1000F ??  :D
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'

The Interceptor 1000 is probably the fastest but we only recently got the KZ 1000 running.

Don, most Z1 parts swap directly or can be easily.  Seat, tanks, tails all direct bolt on...swap the rear fender for the Z! tail light, wheels? use disc brake hubs from kz900 or kz1000a...even sidecovers and airboxes.  Non of these parts are cheap though, even repro's, and the visual differences are subtle.  Throw whatever handlebars on there easy peasy. (well, as easy as any other bar swap anyway) Yup!  Kawi's rip, shred and mostly stomp Honda's of the same era.

Well, a guy that asked about it before I took the ad down showed up and I let him take it home. Now I'm going to turbocharge an F engine for my raked out lowered K2.

Since we got the 77' KZ 1000LTD going and I have put some miles on it there's no way it's getting sold. 8)

I got 3K, I thought that was a deal. I just saw an ad for a red 83 gs1100e for the same money with less miles and it's gorgeous. That's the next bike that I really want.
I know it's apples and oranges but the question I ask myself is even with the turbocharger will my 836 ever be as fast as a GS1100e? Not likely, but more cool factor.

The GS got away from me, it's been for sale all spring, gone now. My idea that selling two bikes and buying one was solving my storage problem didn't fly with the mrs. but what does she know.
