Lower Handlebars ?
« on: November 01, 2017, 01:38:20 am »
I had the spare seat for my "stock" 75' CB 750 K5 cut down and re-upholstered to help with my foot placement . Seat is now 2" thick and really not to uncomfortable riding .

Like to lower the stock handlebars .  What handlebars are you guys using ?  I've used some "Superbike" handlebars on my KZ1000 and aren't too bad but a little aggressive . Any other "Styles" recommended  ?  I realize the cables and brake hose might be a little long, but was hoping to use the stock ones without looking to bad ?

I have superbike bars on my 750 and for me, much better that then the stock bars.  I also have used them on a 550, too.  My current 550 has "M" bars with a lowered seat and rear sets.  My rear sets have the pegs the same height as the stock pegs, but further back.
Everyone has a different shaped body and the stock setup is OK for most people.  Try them and find out.

Superbike bars are more or less ideal for me on my 750. Sometimes I might want lower. I've thought about doing clipons or clubmans, but they wouldn't really work well with stock peg placement, and rear sets would pretty much turn it solo only bike. Maybe if I had 2 motorcycles, but superbike bars are the perfect compromise for my riding.

Looking at "both"  Bikemaster and Emgo "Superbike" handlebars. It appears that the Emgo has more pullback in it's measurement compared to the Bikemaster.  My question is that both Bikemaster and Emgo have a Center Width of 4". The stock upper handlebar mount on my CB measures approx. 4  3/4"  to the outside of the clamp.  Will these Handlebars fit ?

Where are you guys purchasing your Handlebars ?

+1 on superbike bars. I'm using the bikemaster ones for right now. Perfect for if you want to tuck in or ride straight/standard.

I'm assuming that the upper handlebar mount on your K-model is probably the same with as mine allowing the Bikemaster handlebars to fit ?

There are also lots of bends roughly half way in-between superbike bars and stock cb750 bars...sometimes marketed as euro-bars...probably because American market bikes always seemed to get higher bars than the rest of the world.

I'm using Renthal super bike bars, thy have 5 different rise heights I think. I went with "low" and it's perfect for me with stock pegs. I'm 5'9

Depending on manufacture Emgo or Bikemaster, the "Euro" bars have a little more pull back and rise than the "Superbike" bars, which I think means a little less forward lean ?

What are you guys doing with the "Stock" clutch and throttle cables as well as the front brake line ? Can they be used without looking to unsightly ?

Front brake line  is the only real problem but may be the easiest to find shorter substitutes for...unless clip-ons, then you got problems.

Stev-o, where did you order your "Euro" spec cables from or did you use 400F cables or other F' models ?

I also use this same bar. Excellent quality and fits perfectly in our triple tree. Yes you pay more, but your gain lightness and quality of product!

UNLIKE the several EMGO and Bikemaster "Euro"/"Superbike" bars I tried. They did not fit properly in the clamps. The way they were bent prevented them from fully seating in the clamps. BEWARE CHEAP BARS.

Are you using the Road Low or Road "Ultra" Low ?  The clamping area width is about a 1/2" wider with the ultra bar .

And what about the throttle and clutch cable ?

I dont recall exactly where I got the cables [I order a lot of parts!] but I recall getting the part numbers from the fiche and searching using that info.

Motion-Pro does have a clutch cable that is 3.5" shorter than stock but their listed throttle cables appear to be the same Part # for either F or K model Honda ?

They'll make you up a custom cable for only a small upcharge from stock.

I think I've settled on the Bikemaster "Euro" Handlebar which should fit the handlebar upper clamp quite well .

David silver spares has an aftermarket replacement euro bar for the 71 cb750K non us spec. they are drilled for controls and wires. Or like frank said cb400F low bars are sweet too.  They also have the shorter cables for those bars.

It would be interesting to see if the 71' CB750's ( Non-USA ) handlebars measurements and compare them with the after market Euro Bars ?

I see David Silvers has them and even the CB400 F bars and cables. I've seem the CB400F replica bars offered thru EMGO but not as wide as the other Euro and Superbike handlebars that I have looked at.
