This is the real deal.
If you have any old Kidde extinguishers around check the list.
They are replacing them for free!
I have several friends who have taken advantage of this recall to get some really old extinguishers replaced.

 Yes saw that on the news,have several around the shop and a couple here at home. Thanks for the link. Checked one so far at the house and its not included.  Bet that will cost the company some big bucks with over 30 million potentially affected.

I had one. The one that is out in the shop. 
I used to carry it my boat so I know it's at least 20+ years old.

Thank you for posting this. I had forgot to check mine. I had three under recall. Fortunately the Kidde I carry in my truck, has a metal handle.

Make sure you guys pay attention to the dates on extinguishers too. Many people have the same one for years without ever getting it serviced. Job security I guess, but I'd hate to see one not work when you need it!
