I'm waiting for warmer weather 15C (60F) when starting the ride, colder while riding. And sand brushed away from the roads.  No sliding front wheel on sand covered asphalt used on winter ice on small roads. $$$$

Safer to wait a little extra.
Last week of March if lucky.  I hope for the warming we all are told to pay extra for so let get it! ;)

Do you have a picture of the muffler bracket you used for the Kerker?  I still have the strap coming down from the upper shock mount on my '75 and it really detracts from the look.

I am pretty sure I just found a piece of scrap 1/8" steel, bent it to suit in a vice, and drilled a couple bolt holes.  I will try and get some better pics for you.  You are not alone in disliking the provided Kerker hanger.

I did basically the same thing recently, bought some flat stock and bent it to the shape I needed for it to go from the Kerker to the rear peg location



Kerker makes a great product but that support is stoopid!

This has been a good read this past hour of sleeplessness. Nice job Sean.

Anybody found a replacement kerker sticker yet? I have a kerker that I'm getting a quote on re-chrome. Would be nice to find a replacement sticker for the can.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Off topic from Sean's great bike build, but well there you go, I didn't know Kerker were owned by Supertrapp, you learn something every day!

I've got at least one Supertrapp muffler out in my garage, I had it on my Triumph Rocket III before I installed the Jardine "Big Boss" pipe, because it kept coming loose and wanting to be launched offa the header pipe, but I've had them on much less powerful bikes like CB750's, and they're an interesting design.

Ken from "Megacycle Exhausts" here (no relation to the cam people in the US) told me that Supertrapp mufflers were sh1t, were heavy and didn't make any more power than a stock pipe, but for someone less technical and more hillbilly like me, it was fun adding/removing plates to make the note that suited me the most. Even my "Seat of the pants dynamometer" could tell that there was no big power increase by installing one, but they are a cool piece of kit, regardless.

How they've stayed in business for the best part of 50 years that I know of, is beyond me, but marketing is what makes the world go around, so I'm sure Supertrapp will still be selling their "special" mufflers for time immemorial. I might put one on one of my next builds, just for fun. ;D

That's interesting terry.  I have a supertrapp exhaust on my gs1100.  And while i like the unique sound it has and overall i rhink ir is a pretty high quality piece...guess what part has fallen off, making it look like a cheap, busted up pos...yup, the damn name plate
     The supertrapp company must stay viable by building products for the whole realm of the vehicle world.  They make stuff for cars, trucks, and heavy equipment.  I work for a company that builds custom underground mining equipment, and I was quite surprised when a work order to assemble a supertrapp end can showed up on my work bench.  Of course, our extremely knowledgeable engineers (lol) had precisely specified the exact number of discs required.
If it works good, it looks good...

Yeah mate, the exhaust pressure on my home made 3 into 1 system (765cc per cylinder) on my Triumph Rocket III was so great I couldn't clamp that mother on, and keep it in place no matter how thick I made the mounting bracket. Take the end cap off and it's a different story, but I can make silencers for hand guns and rifles that are quieter........... ;D

Well there you go mate, I bought the Jardine system in 2009 or 2010, so while I'm not 100% happy with it either, at least it's an "original", not that it really matters, the best pipe I put on it had the fishtail Ebay muffler, that I might clean up and put back on....... :D

Well, at least those were right side up.  Just going back a ways here, but the overall look of the bike has not changed much since I first put it on the road.
