Yep, I was just illustrating how determining what a certain model had as original equipment can be tricky as even Honda brochures, parts books, etc can be misleading...

A lot of people though, especially newer owners do not even know that there is a buzzer defeat built into their turn switch so just getting out the word a bit for the folks who do not know.  I use it all the time but still have the buzzer when I want to sound like a semi truck backing up  :D
Five position switch does sound pretty important and high tech !   ;)
I believe only the K2's have the buzzer cancel button.

Yep. I have been driving my K2 around this fall and can say its a handful trying to keep the button pushed in while manipulating the clutch with that same hand and still trying to turn while then trying to turn the switch off. Kind of like trying to hold a fart it seems a little beep always seems to escape at the end  ;D ;D Think the 5 way started on the K3.

It's fun to pop the buzzer on sometimes when riding with non-Honda guys...at every turn you can watch them look around going "What the hey?"
If it works good, it looks good...

Yeah, I like the buzzer.  Doesn't bother me at all.  It's especially great when driving about along crowded sidewalks.  Pedestrians actually refrain from walking out in front of you when turning.  Further, the less I confuse another driver about whether I'm actually lane changing, turning/or not, the better for my safety.  Not that I actually trust them.

I do get amused when riders with loud exhaust, complain about that puny buzzer.  ;D

It’s a good way to tell if your battery is getting weak....

Yes, but not on all of them.  Some don't care about the volts and sound the same.  Others, break into a warble dying goat whimper, which gives me a chuckle.  But, if you use the stock flasher unit, the blinker flash rate is another indicator of battery voltage status.   It's so nice to have precision tools.   ;D

Screw that stock mechanical flasher!
That's one of the first things I yank and replace with a solid-state when I get a new-old bike. Right after the stock rectifier.

That's your prerogative. Spend money where you want.  But, I have several original examples that have and still are working fine.

When the stock flasher gets too slow,  It's usually telling you that the wiring connectors need cleaning (low distributed voltage).  The electronic ones won't tell you about that impending issue.

I don't get why you vilify the rectifier.  ...Unless you are referring to the early selenium types, that get mechanical plate join issues.   But, otherwise you are replacing silicon diodes with silicon diodes.

I'd rather spend money on other things!

Cheers,

cut him some slack, TT.  He's just been scarred by Yamaha ownership. lol
I have owned at least 14 70's Honda's and never a reg or rec replaced and they all charged just fine.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be harsh.  Just a bit perplexed.

Ain't no thang.  :)

You are correct, there is nothing wrong with the original components, I've never had an original regulator or rectifier go bad.
(The damned Starter Safety Unit, well that's another story!)

I will, however, stand by my opinion regarding the efficacy of the original mechanical flasher.
Imho, faster blinking, brighter flashing signals are better.

(And the Yamaha got a new harness, regulator, rectifier, flasher, LED's for the panel and gauges, brushes for the alternator, and Pamco. )
Taking no chances... ;)
