I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I've always wanted a project to work on. I didn't have any experience when I was looking at stuff but I kept coming back to older motorcycles and, ultimately, went to look at this one down in Pueblo, CO and drug it home. Bike was listed as a 76 550 but it had a 71 500 motor in it. I'll put a picture up of how it looked the day I got it. It was a mess and I think I've taken about 4 years to get it to this point. Here's a list of what I've done:

-Rebuilt 627B carbs and eventually swapped them out for a set of O22A's that I rebuilt.
-Rebuilt the brake caliper, stainless line, and a Nissin MC.
-Loads of polishing on aluminum.
-Pounded the knee dents and attempted to do the body work (first try at anything like that) and Cal eventually got it looking great. I lined the tank as well.
-Paint (again a first for me).
-Jumped up to 550 cylinders and rebuilt the top end (head was ported/polished with +1mm intake valves).
-Rebuilt the forks with progressive springs, and installed tapered head bearings.
-Dyna ignitiion and coils.
-Motogp exhaust
-Upgraded the electrical system with Motogadget M Unit, M Lock, M Buttons, M Blaze turn signals, and all new wiring.
-Woodcraft clip ons.
-Reupholstered the seat.
-Bobbed rear fender, relocated the plate to a mount near the hub, installed LED tail light.
-New chain, sprockets, all cables.

This winter I hope to install rearsets, rebuild the swingarm bushings, do the clutch, and get new rear shocks, and I'd still like the paint to look nice.

I've gotten help/guidance from a lot of people here such as Cal, Don, Steve-O, Kyle, Ron, David, Brent, Mark, and many others. Huge thanks to everyone for helping me, answering emergency texts/calls, helping with parts, and talking me off the ledge when I was about to dump it. Everything was a challenge along the way but I really learned a lot and sure do appreciate the bike now.

I think there may be something amiss with the February bike - I believe the green full fairing bike shown is DMcD's CB550, whereas from memory Dnor72's bike was a CB350 original restoration.

Bootsey,

I think you may be right.  Someone sent me the photo of Dnor72's 350.  All of his photo links were broken in his build thread.  If anyone has a confirmed photo of Dnor72's bike, please post it.
