This is my daily rider...
It is an assortment of parts that I collected over the years (probably close to 10 years of stuff picked up here and there) I bought the motor, frame and a few boxes of stuff at an estate sale many years ago because it was a K0. It had been sitting since the 70's and had made the rounds through various family members. When I finally got around to restoring it, I found that the frame had been cut and had a few tabs on it that were added. In the boxes, I found an original manual, with catalogs, notes and receipts. All from the early 70's. The receipts that caught my attention were from R.C. Engineering when they were in Glendale California. Polished and micro-balanced crank, forged Venolia pistons, R.C. rods etc. When I tore into the motor I was elated to see the markings of the R.C. parts. The pistons were brand new in the box from the 70's. The original owner had passed before he finished the build. I was determined to finish it for him. I've always loved the CR race bike so I decided I'b build my version of a naked CR. Cylinders were bored to 838. New springs, valve guides for the head. New cam chain & guide. New bearings, seals etc. I did the motor work with the exception of the cylinder boring and Serti valve job. The front brake is off a GT750 Waterbuffalo - had it for at least a decade - been on 2 or 3 of my bikes over the years. Made the tail section out of a KZ650 tail - lots of trimming and fiberglass. Would have been faster to make my own from scratch. I moved the footpegs back about 4 inches to fit me a little better. Oil tank is a copy of the CR and was made by a member here OldScrambler. Never knew where the aluminum tank actually came from but it is similar in shape to the CR tanks. Rims are vintage Borranni - several hours of sanding to remove scratches. Seat was made with an old jacket of mine. Swing arm and pipe are from Chris Redpath of MotoGP werks. I can't count how many compliments the swing arm draws. The bike went together very easily and is a joy to ride. I am still suprised how much more punch this thing packs vs the stocker. I ride the bike everyday that it doesn't rain or isn't just miserable out.
