Hey guys, need some help diagnosing this one. My '77 CB550 was running and happy yesterday, and this morning I replaced the starter solenoid. Starter cranks the engine strong now! Except somehow now I'm only getting spark on cylinder #1. What did I screw up?
-I've tried removing the solenoid and kick starting with just the battery connected to the power wire.
-The spark plugs look fine.
-I'm checking with a timing light. Totally normal flashes on #1 with kick or starter, nothing at all on 2/3/4.
-I'd suspect a coil or a wire if 4 was firing...
-Battery is fully charged.
-With the starter assist, it tries running on just #1 but doesn't quite have the power to keep going.
It does smell like gas on the plugs, but I didn't crank long enough to get much gas in there. I don't think it's flooded, but what's the best way to clear a flooded engine? Run the starter with the plugs out?
Anything else I can check? The biggest mystery (I think) is why 1 is firing but not 4.
